Shows come and shows go, but everyone knows Fall TV is the best. This year we’ve got some tried and proven shows that are coming back for another season (such as the legendary Black Mirror), but there are also plenty of originals that look set to wow us on the small screen (looking at Tom Hardy’s Taboo). We’ll also be able to find out the terrible truth after devastating cliffhanger finales (still angry about The Walking Dead) and finally get some much needed closure (Gilmore Girls). Check out 11 of the shows to catch this fall to coast you into winter.
1. Narcos (Season 2) – September 2, 2016
Stars: Wagner Moura, Boyd Holbrook, Pedro Pascal
Plot description: The series follows the life of Pablo Escobar, a notorious Colombian drug lord. In this second season, we’re set to see Escobar on the run from the law.
Why you should watch: Season 1 was a massive success and, given Escobar’s life story, Season 2 promises to be anything but boring.
2. The Exorcist – September 23, 2016
Stars: Ben Daniels, Geena Davis, Brianne Howey, Hannah Kasulka, Alfonso Herrera, Kurt Egyiawan,
Plot description: Based on William Blatty’s 1971 novel The Exorcist and the ’73 horror movie classic, the TV show is set to follow Angela Rance (Geena Davis) and the two priests who she enlists to battle the powerful, sinister entity that has taken up residence in her home.
Why you should watch: The 1973 Exorcist is one of the most revered horror classics to date, so getting a TV adaptation should be, if nothing else, interesting. That, and the power of Christ compels you to.

3. Luke Cage – September 30, 2016
Stars: Mike Colter, Simone Missick, Mahershala Ali, Frank Whaley, Alfre Woodard, Theo Rossi, Rosario Dawson
Plot description: After an experiment goes wrong, Luke Cage gains superpowers (namely unbreakable skin) and becomes a hero for hire.
Why you should watch: If Marvel and Netflix’s collaborations on Daredevil and Jessica Jones are anything to go by, this latest addition will not be one to miss.
Check out the main trailer:
4. Westworld – October 2, 2016
Stars: Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton
Plot description: The show is based on a 1973 sci-fi Western thriller by the same name, and takes place in a futuristic theme park that houses artificial beings.
Why you should watch: Featuring a stellar cast and a timely premise (the nature of A.I., sin, reality, and consciousness), Westworld seems set to take TVworld by storm.
Check out the trailer:
5. Black Mirror (Season 3) – October 21, 2016
Stars: Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Mackenzie Davis, Jerome Flynn (that’s Bronn for all you Game of Thrones fans), Wyatt Russell, Bryce Dallas Howard, Alice Eve, James Norton, and more.
Plot description: With each episode featuring new characters tackling thematic problems, it’s difficult to give a plot for this stellar British series. However, no matter the characters or setting, each episode gives us a devastating look at the negative affects of technology, making us question what humanity is heading toward, and if it really is for the best.
Why you should watch: This show offers a unique look at a possible future that realizes the darker fears we have about the direction in which humanity is going. If you’re in the mood to ponder the future of our species and the dark side of our best inventions, this is the show for you.
Here the trailer for ya:
6. The Walking Dead (Season 7) – October 23, 2016
Stars: Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Josh McDermitt and many more.
Plot description: Season 7 of The Walking Dead will take us back to the zombie apocalypse, where a group of survivors tries their best to recreate a new life for themselves — although they have more than the living dead to worry about.
Why you should watch: WE HAVE TO FIND OUT WHO NEGAN KILLED!
Check out the official Season 7 trailer released at Comic-Con 2016:
7. The Crown – November 4, 2016
Stars: Claire Foy, Matt Smith, John Lithgow
Plot description:The Crown follows the life and times of a 25-year-old Queen Elizabeth II.
Why you should watch: A retelling of this true story is bound to be full of intrigue, and Elizabeth’s dealings with Winston Churchill should give modern audiences an insight into the Crown and the mind of a 20th century political genius.
Check out the trailer:
8. Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life – November 25, 2016
Stars: Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Milo Ventimiglia, Melissa McCarthy, Scott Patterson, and many more
Plot description: After the end of beloved show Gilmore Girls in 2007, we head back to Stars Hollow one last time to see what Lorelei and Rory have been up to — and finally get the closure we deserve.
Why you should watch: Fans have been pining for Stars Hollow since the show ended, so being back with these beloved characters is already enough. Plus, we finally will see who they both end up with and how!
Get prepared with this trailer:
9. Taboo – TBA
Stars: Tom Hardy, Oona Chaplin (oh hey, Talisa from Game of Thrones), Leo Bill
Plot description: Tom Hardy plays James Keziah Delaney, a man returning to England after 10 years in Africa in 1813. Intent on seeking vengeance for the death of his father, Delaney decides to build up his inherited shipping company, sending a big FU to the East India Company.
Why you should watch: Tom. Fucking. Hardy. And the plot sounds great. And Hardy wrote it with his own father. So. Much. YESSSSSS.
Here’s the trailer:
10. Frontier – TBA
Stars: Jason Momoa, Diana Bentley, Alun Armstrong, Allan Hawco, Landon Liboiron, Jessica Matten,
Plot description: Dive straight into the murky waters of the 19th century North American fur trade.
Why you should watch: I’m thinking The Revenant but with more political intrigue, and slightly less elegantly crafted — made up for, of course, by Jason Momoa’s rippling abs.
Plot description: The first season of British series The Fall followed the crimes of a sickly deranged serial killer in Belfast, Northern Ireland (Dornan) and the detective hired to capture him (Anderson). The second season is set to pick up where the story left off — and what a cliffhanger that was!
Why you should watch: Jamie Dornan makes a truly crooked killer, and Gillian Anderson is just the woman to catch him and make a statement while doing it. Plus, we just have to know what happened after that killer ending.
