He enjoys the realism, giving himself real facial injuries for his role in . Helmer Andrea Arnold likes to work with unknown actors or unfamiliar faces to add a sort of authenticity to her films. That explains the lead star, Sasha Lane, along with many other “actors” who were discovered in local parking lots.
Once I got past the film format and use of natural light, I have to admit that there is something oddly captivating about American Honey. Though watching a group of drifting kids run around town while creating mischief is not exactly my cup of tea, the trailer does at least pique my curiosity.
As a bit of icing on the cake, it is hard to not be interested in what Shia LaBeouf is up to, so seeing his mug could push up viewership a bit. Sasha Lane, on the other hand, comes with no recognition, as this is her feature debut. Even with no experience, the actress seems to be entirely comfortable sharing the screen with LaBeouf while also showcasing a beauty that’s all her own. I’m not admitting that I’m crushing, but Lane has a look that can work in her favor in regards of keeping the audience involved with the character she plays. Or, maybe I’m just crushing.
