‘Arrow’, ‘Legends of Tomorrow’, ‘The Flash’ and ‘Supergirl’ Crossover In The Works

Recently, there was an announcement that put an ear-to-ear smile on all of us comic book fans: ‘Supergirl’ is moving to The CW, home of ‘Arrow’, ‘The Flash’ and ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ for its second season. These shows have found a tremendous following, to the point where they can be considered the most popular superhero series out there.Anyway, Supergirl’s network shift got a lot of us speculating on what this could mean for the Arrowverse, both in terms of crossover potential and whether or not the two universes could, at some point, merge with each other.

Well now, it seems that that theory might not sound so crazy after all. CW chief, Mark Pedowitz, told reporters during a conference call ahead of The CW’s upfront presentation in New York that a crossover between ‘Legends of Tomorrow’, ‘Arrow’, ‘The Flash’ and ‘Supergirl’, was in the works. He stated that the superhero event will be “the biggest one ever.”While not revealing any further details regarding the crossover, he did say this of Supergirl’s move to the CW:

“I don’t think it will have a major effect on how [the Supergirl producers] actualize what they do.”

He also mentions how the girl of steel should have been with them since the beginning. He is referring to The CW passing on the show when it was still in early development. WHAT CAN THIS CROSSOVER MEAN FOR THE FUTURE OF ‘SUPERGIRL’?

The comment about the transition not changing what the producers do is a bit discouraging because, as mentioned above, the hopeful result of this network move for many fans is that Supergirl’s world will no longer be a parallel earth for The Flash and Arrow. But, putting on our optimists hats, how could the two universes merging be possible? Well, there’s a little story arc in the comic books from 1985 titled ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’.

The story deals with the same subject Flash is dealing with in his second season: Parallel earths. In the comic books, this event ends up with the different realities merging into a single, cohesive universe. So could we expect something like that, seeing how ‘The Flash’ does not shy away from the crazier instances of time travel and dimension hopping? While we could argue that the most realistic scenario is for Supergirl to remain a separate entity from the rest of the already-established heroes due to a Crisis-like event needing an enormous budget, that could very well not be the case. Let’s remember that they don’t need to adapt the complete storyline with heroes such as Green Lantern, Cyborg and the Anti-Monitor. We only need to look at what ‘Captain America: Civil War’ did. The story is very loosely based on the comic book arc but what remains is the essence. That’s what they could adapt: Not the entire, enormous, budget-consuming storyline, but its main focus: Earth merging.

CONCLUSION
In general, The CW opens an incredible amount of possibilities for Supergirl. Can you imagine the cousin of steel fighting alongside the Legends of Tomorrow? Plus, let’s not forget about the possibility of the awaited and much-clamored for appearance of Superman in the Arrowverse. Personally, I am crossing my fingers as hard as I can for them to merge their earths. It would be much cooler than having the heroes dimension-hop every time they crossover. But what about you?DO YOU THINK IT’S A GOOD IDEA FOR SUPERGIRL TO EXIST IN THE SAME UNIVERSE AS ‘THE FLASH’ AND ‘ARROW’?
