Spoiler Alert! If you haven’t seen the season 4 finale of Bates Motel, come back after you’ve completed it. There are spoilers ahead.
It would appear that they are setting up a full on redo of Psycho with the ending of Bates Motel season 4 this past Monday. Now that Norman has killed his mother, Norma, and Sheriff Romero is in DEA custody, Norman is now completely alone in that big house. The house and the motel are his responsibility and he now has mother back to keep him company. Hopefully that super glue holds her eyes open long enough to see what will be happening in season 5. iHorror is reporting that the classic Psycho character, Marion Crane, will appear in the fifth and final season of Bates Motel. Executive producer Carlton Cuse had this to say:
“We do hope to see Marion Crane next season. That will be a big moment. We wanted the final season to allow us to do our version of the Psycho lore. We will be colliding with certain events in the narrative of the film, but it would be boring to just recreate Psycho.”
So there we have it! Judging from the timeframe, Bates Motel will likely end where Psycho started or they will replay the entire events of the horror classic with a modern twist. The latter is more likely, but we will have to wait and see for sure. If you don’t remember, Marion Crane was portrayed by Janet Leigh in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 original. Marion was somewhat of a main character as she is seen practically throughout the first act of the film and she does have some decent exchange and exposure to Norman Bates. It will be interesting to see who is cast to replay this iconic role. Are you excited for the final season of Bates Motel? Let me know in the comments and let’s talk about it!
