Bradley Cooper, best known to audiences with such films as The Hangover trilogy and Guardians of The Galaxy, is apparently eyeing the one and only Lady Gaga to accompany him, hand in hand, in a remake of a classic 1954 film starring Hollywood legends James Mason and Judy Garland.
That’s right, you guessed it folks. Cooper is currently developing a modern day remake of A Star Is Born, bringing the Academy-Award nominated Lady Gaga along with him. The pair were spotted back in May having a cozy conversation and motorcyle ride, possibly with Cooper attempting to suade the young songstress into officially joining the film.
This film will mark Cooper’s directorial debut, as he takes the reigns from his American Sniper director, Clint Eastwood. Apparently, the studio (Warner Bros.) has tested Gaga for the role and are over the moon excited about moving forward with the project as soon as possible. Cooper is producing the film alongside Todd Phillips through their production company, Joint Effort. The initial draft, scripted by Will Fetters, is also expected to recieve reworking from Cooper himself.
The role that Gaga is rumored to portray, previously played by Barbra Streisand and Judy Garland, was once gifted to the mighty Beyonce. But since then, the film had fallen into a slump and Beyonce was forced to withdraw her inclusion in the remake that would have been directed by Clint Eastwood. Gaga, who recently won a Golden Globe for her portrayal of The Countess in Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story: Hotel, is no stranger to bringing old classics to new life on stage and screen. During the 2015 Oscars, she performed a rousing melody of songs from the 1965 film, The Sound of Music, to roaring applause from her peers and the highest praise from the original film’s star, Julie Andrews.
Although the film has no production or release date set as of yet, rumors suggest it is a top priority for Cooper, who is incredibly anxious to get this film off the ground and running. Having been at the side of the legendary Clint Eastwood, Cooper now has a chance to showcase exactly what he’s learned from the Oscar winning director and tell an old story new, to the world in a fun and fascinating way.
