Even without the crazy transformations she went through for her award-winning performance in Monster and her iconic turn as Imperator Furiosa in Max Max: Fury Road, Charlize Theron has always wowed us with her incredible acting skills and killer looks.
Now she’s nearing 50 acting credits on her IMDb page with projects that are as varied as they’re exciting —so without further ado, check out her upcoming movies!
1. Fast 8 — April 14, 2017
The much-awaited eighth installment of the Fast & Furious franchise has been making headlines lately for the alleged on-set beef between stars Vin Diesel and the Rock. But you can expect the ladies to steal the show when Fast 8 rolls around next April, as Theron is playing villain Cipher and Helen Mirren has also joined the family.
Until the trailer comes out, check out this behind-the-scenes clip:
2. The Coldest City — August 11, 2017
The Coldest City is based on a graphic novel by Antony Johnston and directed by stuntman, actor and director David Leitch. Theron plays Lorraine Broughton, an MI6 agent sent to Berlin just before the Wall is taken down and on a mission to uncover the network behind the death of a fellow agent.
3. American Express — 2017
The title for this project hasn’t been confirmed yet, but we know that it’ll be directed by Australian indie director and stuntman Nash Edgerton. His brother Joel Edgerton will also feature in the cast, which includes Theron and Amanda Seyfried.
4. Tully — 2017
Tully sees Jason Reitman and Diablo Cody teaming up again after they respectively directed and wrote both Juno and Young Adult. Theron also seems to work well with the team, as she was the main star of Young Adult. She’ll lead this story about a mother of three who forms a bond with the nanny recruited for her by her brother. The nanny, named Tully, is set to be played by Mackenzie Davis.
5. The Last Face — TBA
Sean Penn’s latest movie The Last Face screened this year at Cannes, and although it didn’t receive the best reviews, we’ll have to wait for a US release date to see it for ourselves. Theron plays the director of an international aid organization who falls for a doctor on a trip to Africa in the middle of a war crisis. Javier Bardem plays the doctor, and they’re joined by French stars Jean Reno and Adèle Exarchopoulos.
