Say hello to your new Mary Poppins! Emily Blunt (Into the Woods, The Devil Wears Prada) will star opposite Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton) in the live-action remake of the 1964 Disney classic.
Created by P.L. Travers then made into the magical Disney hit, the sequel titled Mary Poppins Returns, will see Blunt take on the iconic Julie Andrews role as the English nanny and Miranda as a new character – Jack the lamplighter.
Rob Marshall (Chicago, Into the Woods) will direct Mary Poppins Returns. Marshall is joined by producers John DeLuca and Marc Platt, whilst Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman will compose and write all-new original scores and songs.
The sequel will be set in Depression-era London, and will follow the now grown Banks children – Jane and Michael, including Michael’s three children. When a tragedy strikes the family they are visited by the charming Mary Poppins, and once again through her magical touch, rekindles the joy in their lives with the help of her new friend Jack.
Mary Poppins Returns will fly onto screens December 25th 2018.
