Eli Roth To Give Bruce Willis A ‘Death Wish’

Transitioning further from his , Hostel and The Green Inferno helmer, Eli Roth, has closed a deal with MGM and Paramount to direct the long-awaited remake of 1974 vigilante movie, Death Wish, starring the late Charles Bronson.

An adaptation of Brian Garfield’s 1972 novel, the original film narrative followed the revenge spree of architect Paul Kersey (Bronson) after his wife was murdered by “street punks” and his daughter sexually assaulted.

Bruce Willis is as the reluctant vigilante, which after his long stint as John McClane in the never-ending Die Hard , this role carries an agenda he should be more than accustomed with.

Repped by WME, Roth’s involvement with the picture comes following the departure of Israeli filmmakers Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado and original director, Joe Carnahan in 2013. Roth will be working with a script penned by Scott Alexander & Larry Karaszewski, and joined by producer Roger Birnbaum.
