Everything We Know So Far About ‘The Incredibles 2’

Most of the time, movie fans don’t really want any sequels. There seems to be a curse in Hollywood that the more you expand a story, the less chances you have of it being any good. As the creators of some of the best original movies out there, Pixar have consequently announced that they’d be .

But still, there’s some heroes we’re just dying to see again: Take The Incredibles, whose first movie earned the studio an Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film Of The Year, and the long speculation about whether there would be a sequel or not. After a long time in unconfirmed-project-limbo, is finally happening! So what do we know about the movie so far?

Following in the footsteps of Finding Dory and , The Incredibles 2 will be Pixar’s last take on sequels for a little while. There’s still three years to go, though, which means an impressive 15 years between the first and the second movie!

At Pixar, Brad Bird is famous for having written and directed both The Incredibles and Ratatouille, so there’s hardly a better fit to take on The Incredibles 2. He’s insisted that the story of this superhero family :

“For me, the interesting thing was never the superhero part of it. It was more the family dynamic, and how do superhero things play into that. So [Incredibles 2] is a step further in that direction.”

3. Frozone Should Be Back

There’s lots of speculation about which characters we will or will not see make a comeback — but thankfully Frozone seems to be ready for new adventures. While promoting Captain America: The Winter Soldier with Digital Spy, Samuel L. Jackson said he’d discussed his character with Bird:

“Every time I run into Brad [Bird, director] he always tells me Frozone is part of what’s going on, so I have to believe that.”

4. A Popular Fan Theory Imagined Dash As The Villain

As we’ve said, Bird insisted that the sequel would be all about family. In the first movie, we’ve seen how the children particularly struggle with finding a compromise between flaunting their powers and not being spotted in their everyday lives. At the end, they all seem to have come to terms with being a superhero family, but what if the children’s powers spin a little out of control when they grow up?

imagines Dash as a rebellious teenager, who ends up being a villain in the new plot because that’s the only way he imagines embracing his superpower. That wouldn’t even be too far-fetched to think of Violet either, since she’s at that teenager age where she’d feel like nobody truly understands her. And what about Jack-Jack? From the looks of it, he wouldn’t take much to be out of control.

What are you looking forward to in The Incredibles 2?
