Earth’s been safe from aliens for 20 years, but now those interstellar fiends are returning to wreak havoc in .
Yesterday, to get the inside scoop on the film, but we wanted a little more info. So we decided to , who plays presidential aide and former first daughter Patricia Whitmore in the film.
Independence Day: Resurgence is Monroe’s first big blockbuster, so we were curious to hear her thoughts on the production process:
“It was so much fun! It was such a fun cast, and a movie like this is so massive and the sets were insane. … I had a blast making this film.”
Fans will remember that Monroe’s character, the daughter of President Thomas Whitmore (Bill Pulman), appeared as a child in the first film, played by Mae Whitman. This time around, she’s all grown up and working as an aide to President Elizabeth Lanford (Sela Ward), though she’s also a trained pilot. And as it turns out, the piloting scenes are some of the performer’s favorites in the film:
“The fighter pilot stuff was pretty entertaining. … It’s a lot of green screen, and basically it’s only the camera that’s moving and you’re just staying still. So you look pretty ridiculous shooting it, and you see the movie and it’s put together and it looks amazing.”
She may be playing a character from the first film, but Monroe’s certainly bringing something unique to this sequel. Even better, it sounds like she had a great time making Independence Day: Resurgence, which gets us even more excited to check out the movie.
