First, Hydra, Now Incest? Agent Carter Calls Captain America Out On His New Romance In Civil War

Peggy Carter’s had it pretty rough recently. First, , despite . Then, audiences were teased with what could have been when . Finally, as if that wasn’t bad enough, Peggy was then killed off in Captain America: Civil War without even appearing on screen.

However, none of that compares to the treachery that occurred after Agent Carter’s funeral and no, we’re not talking about Steve Roger’s and Tony Stark’s shattered bromance — although that did make us pretty sad.

Bros before hoes?

Bros before hoes?

Just before the epic airport battle took place, Captain America briefly met up with Sharon Carter to share vital information and apparently some saliva too, kissing her in front of his best buds Falcon and Bucky.

The scene felt rather forced due to the lack of chemistry between the pair, but that’s not the real issue. The problem here is that Peggy Carter had just died and now the love of her life is playing tonsil tennis with her grandniece. Ew.

Just. Don't.

Just. Don’t.

During an with IGN on the post-cancellation tour for Agent Carter, Hayley Atwell had this to say about Peggy and what her reaction to the illicit romance would be;

“Well, first of all she’d be turning over in her grave. She’d be like ‘no.’ And she’d inject herself with the blue serum and become a super villain. She’d break out of her coffin and ground [Sharon]. She’d ground her. Then she’d kick Steve’s ass as well.”

Now that’s a fight we’d like to see.

Atwell went on to explain why she wasn’t too pleased with the relationship;

“I just feel that, you know – I wouldn’t want to date my great aunt’s guy. It just feels like it crosses an incestuous boundary. And Peggy just died. That’s even more disrespectful, right? It’s like, ‘don’t touch that.”‘ You can’t tap that!”

We would have paid a ton of money to see 95 year-old Peggy Carter pop up between Cap and Sharon mid-kiss, uttering the immortal words “You can’t tap that!”, but unfortunately, death had already claimed Agent Carter before she could speak her mind.

Cruel fate.

Cruel fate.

Despite the awkward nature of Sharon’s romance with Steve, Atwell felt Peggy would ultimately remain protective of her grandniece, although she clearly doesn’t feel the same way about Captain America, saying that;

“She’d want the best for her and she’d want her dating a good guy. And now with this whole ‘Hail Hydra” business, I don’t know if Steve’s good enough for her. So on all levels, it’s just a big fat no.”

No, Steve. It's just a big, fat no.

No, Steve. It’s just a big, fat no.

Regardless of whether or not, there’s still something pretty uncomfortable about Steve’s relationship with Sharon, especially considering how soon it flourished after Peggy’s funeral.

Maybe it’s time that Marvel just bit the bullet and listened to the fan petition that was doing the rounds on Twitter recently. We don’t know how Peggy would feel about that, but at least then Cap wouldn’t be making out with her grandniece!

Or there’s always Black Widow of course.

Who do you think Captain America should hook up with?

“You can’t tap that.”
