From Robert Kirkman’s Own Mouth: Here’s Who Negan Killed by Ananda Dillon , May 26th, 2016 at 4:54pm Share on Facebook Share to Twitter*SPOILER ALERT: This article contains details from the Season 6 finale of The Walking Dead and the comic series.*So it may go down in TV history as being every bit as frustrating as speculating over who shot J.R., but we have an entire summer to ponder the Season 6 finale of The Walking Dead — and an entire summer to be teased by those in the know.Among those very much in the know is The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman. After all, the man wrote the original scene himself — and some of us know that (SPOILER ALERT) Glenn was the one to go up to bat in the comics. As an executive producer on the show, he also knows where it’s headed, even if it’s in a different direction from the comic series. So when Kirkman showed up on Talking Dead host Chris Hardwick’s other TV show @midnight , it was no surprise that he had to joke somewhat about the finale and the large-scale internet conversation it inspired. Hardwick presented the guests with a category called Cliff-Lamers where they were to announce an intro for the worst cliffhanger for a TV series they could think up.Kirkman’s response?Of course, there was an almost immediate negative response from the audience. Carl is, after all, a fan favorite. But so is Glenn, and he died in the comics.Don’t cry yet, Glenn!Obviously no one is safe, but isn’t Kirkman perhaps acknowledging slyly that he thinks some characters are more safe than others? Glenn may be a fan favorite and thus (hopefully) get a better fate than his comic book counterpart, but is Kirkman partial to Carl?Negan wouldn’t poke fun AND kill Carl, right?Possibly, though, it seems Kirkman is deliberately being reckless and inflammatory in his hints around the series. He recently answered a fan question at the Hawaii Comic Con , basically listing that Rick, Carl, Michonne, Daryl, Abraham, Rosita and even Jesus (who’s not even present for Negan’s agonizing game of eeny, meeny, miny, moe) are all on the docket to die before the show’s end. Jeez, becoming George R. R. Martin much, Kirkman?Don’t worry, there’s plenty to suggest Carl’s safe and, honestly, this latest joke from Kirkman seems to fit with all the other teasing he’s been doing. One way we know for sure he’s a liar? What he said right after “revealing” Carl’s death:Good one Kirkman, good one.Watch the full episode of last night’s @Midnight to hear it from Kirkman himself and decide whether you think there’s any truth in his joke.Think there’s anything to read into in Kirkman’s comments? Or should we all tune him out?
