Despite its success, the network has set the stage for the series’ end.The Soviet-era intelligence drama has been renewed for its final two seasons at FX. Season 5 of The Americans will run for 13 episodes in 2017, with a 10-episode Season 6 in 2018. Co-showrunners Joseph Weisberg and Joel Fields have also signed overall deals with FX Productions, which will produce their follow-up to the series.Eric Schrier, FX’s president of original programming, seems particularly proud of the show. The show’s only received one Emmy Award, which went to Margo Martindale for a guest spot. However, knowledge that the series is on the way out could cause Emmy voters to show some love for The Americans over the next two years.
