Gods Among Men: Everything We Know About ‘Justice League: Part One’…So Far

Despite the fact that there was an overwhelming amount of hype around this year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, you can rest assured that DC will be kicking it up a notch for the release of their highly anticipated Justice League movie next year. Set to unite DC’s greatest heroes, the world will be watching to see how these forces will ultimately come together. As high as the anticipation was for Batman v Superman, Justice League: Part One just may exceed that. But just what do we know about Justice League?

It Will ‘Unite the Seven’

Start with the obvious one, right? Many people may not be able to get over the fact that the Justice League will be formed on the discovery of an e-mail (as seen in Batman v Superman), however, it looks that this is exactly what’s going to happen. It will also mark the first official appearances of Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash, Ray Fisher as Victor Stone/Cyborg and Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman – all of whom made cameos in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. But the question is: will the e-mail be what unites the seven members of the Justice League or will there be another other worldly attack that will bring the heroes out of the shadows? Remember “Secret Origins” – the three part pilot of the Justice League animated series? That was golden. I wonder if the film will reflect any of those elements?

Batman and Wonder Woman Will Presumably be the Co-Founders

This one doesn’t need much explanation. If you’ve seen Batman v Superman, then you will know that, at Clark Kent’s funeral, Bruce Wayne and Diana Prince both agreed that they would go out and track down the other heroes. Clearly rattled by the fact that Lex Luthor knew of these metahumans’ existence, one would presume that they will stop at nothing to locate these heroes before anybody else does.

Superman’s ALIVE

Okay, so “Superman Dies” literally became a thing that people would say to each other after watching Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. I’m pretty sure a few people got the ending spoiled for them because of those exact words. However, those words didn’t spoil the ending because Superman is Alive! That symbolic ending (which was quite the reversal but quite an homage to The Dark Knight Returns) symbolizes that the Man of Steel’s return is imminent. And if that doesn’t convince you well…Henry Cavill is second on the cast list for Justice League: Part One. Of course he was alive. Was there ever really any doubt? I wonder if we will see a reunion like this??

Lex Luthor Might Return

In a recent appearance at MCM London Comic Con, Jesse Eisenberg alluded to his potential return to the role of Lex Luthor in Justice League: Part One.

I’m kind of in wait. They just started filming Justice League, so I’m kind of like waiting for my crack at it. I don’t know what I’m allowed to say, because I feel like there’s probably some drone following me from DC, and if I say anything wrong I get, you know, picked off. But yeah I think so, and I love it, and I love everybody who’s in it. You know, it’s a really talented group of people.

It will be interesting to see what kind of role Lex would play should he return. We now know that he was basically the twisted mastermind behind the events of the entire Batman v Superman film. We also know that Batman threatened him after he in prison – the prison where he also had his head shaved and thus, now looks like his comic book counterpart. With some people not warming to Lex’s appearance in Batman v Superman could they change their minds now if Eisenberg sported the more traditional Lex Luthor look? Time will tell.

Darkseid Will Appear But Not as the Main Villain

According to , while Darkseid will indeed feature in Justice League: Part One, he will not be the ‘Big Bad’. Their source claims that Darkseid will be a “presence” in Justice League Part One, but he won’t fully appear until the second half of the film – thus “don’t expect him to do much”. This is interesting as he is considered a major arch-nemesis of Superman’s. But if someone as formidable as Darkseid isn’t the ‘Big Bad’, then who is?

Ben Affleck Will Executive Produce

Yep, you heard it correctly folks: Batman himself will serve as the executive producer of a film starring Batman. He will also have some input in the script and post-production decisions. That’s really cool because it shows how much faith he has in the project. It is also a sign of how much faith Warner Bros. has in him, which is also really cool. All he has to do next is star in, write and direct The Batman…oh wait, he might just be doing all that too. Because he’s Batman!

Justice League:Part One May Not Be the Actual Title

As we , a rumour from suggests that Justice League: Part One may only be the working title for the film and in fact, DC have lined up four potential film titles. The rumored titles are: Justice League: United, Justice League: Angels and Demons, Justice League: Gods Among Us and Justice League: Gods Among Men. Bare in mind this is only a rumour, but it’s an interesting one nonetheless.

Jared Leto’s Joker Might Make an Appearance

Jared Leto recently posted images of himself on Snapchat, once again dressed as the Joker. Although it’s possible he was just doing a photoshoot or perhaps even Suicide Squad reshoots, he might have been filming a cameo of a scene for Justice League? Although, reports suggest that he wasn’t in London (where Justice League is being filmed), it’s still possible that he was filming a standalone Joker scene, right? There will likely be some surprises in the film, perhaps this could be one of them?

The Script Will Likely Be “Less Muddled” Than BvS

As we recently reported, film legend Jeremy Irons (who plays Alfred in Batman v Superman and Justice League: Part One) claimed that the former’s negative reception was “Deservedly so.” He then followed that up with a statement, claiming “It was very muddled. I think the next one will be simpler. The script is certainly a lot smaller, it’s more linear.” Thus, according to Alfred himself, Justice League may indeed be a more coherent film than Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

So there are just some of the reasons as to why you should be heavily anticipating Justice League: Part One. It’s likely to be a massive moment for the DC Extended Universe and thus, a deciding factor in the franchise’s future. After the critical backlash from Batman v Superman, all hopes are riding on Justice League being a major success. That includes our hopes too – because they are high…really high. Roll on Justice League. Unite the Seven!

Justice League: Part One will be released on November 17th, 2017. Are you looking forward to it? Let us know in the comments!
