With all the new blockbusters coming out within the next couple of years from competing companies, Warner Bros. has been doing some reshuffling with their upcoming films. Three highly anticipated movies now have new release dates:
The sequel to 2014’s summer blockbuster Godzilla originally had a release date of June 8th, 2018. But now it has moved to March 22nd, 2019. The movie originally shared its release date with Transformers 6, But it seems that Warner Bros. wants to secure its movies box office success.
The intriguing movie idea that pits the worlds most famous ape King Kong against the titan Godzilla now has a release date of May 29th, 2020. This now moves two movies featuring Godzilla only a little more than a year away from each other, showing confidence in their ability to build a new franchise.
Last on the list, is the new addition to the expanding DC Extended Universe. Green Lantern Corps was confirmed at 2015’s San Diego Comic-Con, and now has a release date of July 24th, 2020. It was originally set to come out a month before on June 19th. This moves it two weeks after a Marvel movie releases rather, than three weeks prior.
Also in other news, A ‘WB Event Film’ was announced to come out on Christmas Day in 2018. The film currently has no title, but will compete with both companies Sony and Disney who are also releasing event films around that time, so it’ll be an interesting match-up. Via: Comicbook.com
