We’re just days away from the trailer release for Season 7 of The Walking Dead at San Diego Comic-Con, and boy are we hyped! But, , sadly one thing we definitely won’t see is the result of that involving Negan.
But while identifying footage of Negan’s victim is unlikely to make it into the trailer, Walking Dead executive producer (and director, and special effects master) Greg Nicotero has opened up about just how gnarly that scene is, and what an effect it’s had on those lucky enough to see it.
Speaking to , Nicotero revealed that while many involved in the series have been kept in the dark about the scene, incoming Walking Dead directors have had it shown to them, and their reaction was pretty intense:
“Some of the incoming directors, when they come in, they read all the scripts. As the cuts are available, we want them to see because we want them to get a flavor for what we’re doing visually. A couple of people have seen it and then they stand next to me for about 24 hours going, ‘Fuck!’ And I’m like, ‘What?’”
“People cry which makes me happy and sad at the exact same time.”
You’re a sick puppy, Nicotero, but we love you for it!
But the directors of The Walking Dead aren’t the only ones who know who Negan’s victim ( ) are, with Michael Cudlitz (Abraham) tweeting that the entire cast of the show also knew:
. we all know who gets hit
— Michael Cudlitz (@Cudlitz)
Granted, that’s a bit of a given considering the death scene was likely shot back in May, but still it’s good to know, if only for the fact that now we know it’s a possibility for cast members to drop hints at Comic-Con, (similar to how at Star Wars Celebration Europe in London last week).
But enough about what’s not in the trailer, what can Nicotero tells fans about what is in the trailer? Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, he hinted that we’ll finally get a look at :
“The exciting thing about season 7 is we’re really opening it up. We started in season 6 by getting a sense that the world was a much larger place. We were laying the seeds for the fact that there is a very big world out there. So, in season 7, we really get a chance to explore those worlds in much greater detail.”
Hell yes, this sounds like it means much more time spent at the Hilltop community, and also see the introduction of the Kingdom (the community belonging to the men Carol and Morgan met at the end of Season 6) and also Negan’s sanctuary,
And speaking of Morgan, the first promotional image of a character has been released and it’s of our favorite pacifist, carrying his trusty Jo staff:
I cannot wait to explore with Morgan and Carol in Season 7!
The Walking Dead returns to screens in October, but the Season 7 trailer will drop this Friday at San Diego Comic-Con.
What are you hoping to see in The Walking Dead Season 7 trailer this Friday?
