‘Hey Arnold!’ TV Movie Gets Official Title & Cast

We already knew that Nickelodeon was for a new TV movie, and as would be expected it’s going to be a seriously nostalgic affair.

Die hard fans of the ’90s animated series will be happy to know that Nickelodeon is bringing back a slew of the show’s original cast members for its two-hour TV movie return. Even better, we now know that the movie will be titled Hey Arnold!: The Jungle Movie, which alludes to some unanswered question’s from the show’s 2004 finale.

Fans will remember that the series finale found Arnold learning about his parents’ adventures in the fictitious jungles of San Lorenzo, and the new film will delve into the mysteries surrounding their disappearance. The project was years ago, and fans have long fought to see the untold story brought to life.

Returning performers from Arnold’s original crew include Francesca Marie Smith as Helga, Anndi McAfee as Phoebe, Justin Shenkarow as Harold and Olivia Hack as Rhonda. They’ll be joined once again by Dan Castellaneta and Tress MacNeille as Arnold’s grandparents. They aren’t alone, as even more of the show’s original ensemble cast is returning for The Jungle Movie.

While plenty of actors are returning, the starring roles of Arnold and his best friend Gerald have been recast with younger performers. Mason Vale Cotton will voice Arnold with Benjamin Flores Jr. cast as Gerald. But fans will be happy to know that original actors Lane Toran and Jamil Smith will return to voice several unannounced roles.

Nickelodeon is clearly pleased to have so many returning performers and talented newcomers on board for Hey Arnold!: The Jungle Movie. In a statement, Chris Viscardi, SVP of content development for Nickelodeon Franchise Properties, said:

“We’re incredibly fortunate to work with these talented voice actors who brought to life one of the most celebrated cartoons in Nickelodeon’s history. The voice cast is an essential piece to the ‘Hey Arnold’ universe and we’re excited for a new generation of fans to hear these characters in a new TV movie.”

Hey Arnold!: The Jungle Movie follows Nickelodeon’s recent nostalgia push, with the network re-airing many of its ’90s hits and even based on popular game show Legends of the Hidden Temple.

Hey Arnold!: The Jungle Movie is currently set to air in 2017. Are you excited for more from the ’90s hit? Let us know in the comments.
