Hidden Figures

Feature Trailer for Hidden Figures.

As the United States raced against Russia to put a man in space, NASA found untapped talent in a group of African-American female mathematicians that served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in U.S. history. Based on the unbelievably true life stories of three of these women, known as “human computers”, we follow these women as they quickly rose the ranks of NASA alongside many of history’s greatest minds specifically tasked with calculating the momentous launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, and guaranteeing his safe return. Dorothy Vaughn, Mary Jackson, and Katherine Johnson crossed all gender, race, and professional lines while their brilliance and desire to dream big, beyond anything ever accomplished before by the human race, firmly cemented them in U.S. history as true American heroes. Most of the film was shot in Atlanta, Georgia. Filming also took place at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics at Dobbins Air Reserve Base,  a United States Air Force reserve air base located in Marietta, Georgia, a suburb about 20 miles northwest of Atlanta.

Margot Lee Shetterly’s book “Hidden Figures” is a New York Times Bestseller and Amazon’s pick for “Best Book of the Month” for September. It is currently ranked as #465 out of all the books for sale on Amazon.
Nothing like an uplifting story that is accompanied by an uplifting trailer. Just like the , we get to see the heartfelt story in a well put together trailer.

The cast was just in Toronto for the Toronto International Film Festival and Taraji P. Henson was asked a question about why she got involved in the project and had this to say, “I said, ‘Hell, yes. Because I needed a departure from Cookie. Not only that but when I got into this industry I never fell in love with acting for the accolades. Y’know, I’m a girl from the hood, O.K.? I didn’t grow up with much. So, all I had was dreams and hope and the reason why this is so overwhelming is when you come from a place where you have no dreams, no hope and all you see is that people who look like you don’t belong or they have no place in society? This story is important. If I had known about these women coming up maybe I would have aspired to be a rocket scientist. Not to say that I have a bad journey, but what I’m saying is that nowadays this is all kids of color feel like they have: sports, rap, acting and there is so much more important work to be done. And to be part of a project that will give children like me where I grew up…to dream a different dream I can’t even quite put it into words. It really feels surreal right now.”

Henson is on a roll right, an Oscar nominee who is also nominated for an Emmy for the second
year in a row for Empire, and it is well deserved. I look forward to seeing this.
