How A Solo Yoda Movie Could Solve The Single Biggest Mystery In The Entire Star Wars Universe

Being , green skin, long ears, three fingers on each hand, a strange grasp of language, and the ability to live for several centuries are just some of the most prominent qualities of Yoda, one of the most powerful Jedi to ever live. In the past, George Lucas chose to keep the history of Yoda a secret.

But even before the astronomical success of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, Disney made plans for spin-off movies to follow in the series, with the likes of Rogue One and a Han Solo movie already in the bag, along with rumors of solo films for Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and .

Of these films, a Yoda movie sounds the most intriguing to me. We know so little about him, yet he has been the , training Jedi and keeping peace throughout the galaxy.

My curiosity about this untold back story of Yoda drives me toward the idea that maybe the reason Yoda knows so much about the Force and the various paths to the dark side is because he may have experienced many of them himself. Imagine the stories we could tell with a spin off Yoda movie.

After all, it’s known that Yoda’s species has the ability to live for several centuries. One can only imagine the things the wise Jedi master has seen and experienced throughout his lifetime, including love and loss, heartbreak and betrayal, even the aforementioned struggles with walking the path of the light as he learns to use and master the Force. Throughout the decades of Star Wars in cinema, Yoda appears to know everything and to be more aware of his surroundings than everyone else around him.

But maybe this knowledge shouldn’t all be attributed to his natural ability to use the Force. It’s something that could only be learned with a lifetime of hard experience. After all, in , Maz Kanata, a Force-sensitive being who also has the ability to live for centuries tells Finn

“If you live long enough, you see the same eyes in different people.”

I believe that Yoda possesses this same ability. The simple gift of being able to look someone in the eyes and see the kind of person they are, to see right through them.

There is so much story that could be told in a Yoda movie. The possibilities are endless, considering that we have only witnessed a very small portion of Yoda’s life on screen. I believe what George Lucas gave us the seeds of with Yoda’s story was the fulfilling of his part of a long and detailed prophecy which Yoda may have learned about as a very young Jedi. I think Yoda knew his place and purpose from the beginning. And throughout his trials and tribulations, for centuries this knowledge always kept him moving toward the light, knowing that he had to inevitably shape and lead the Skywalker family. So that one day, young Luke Skywalker could defeat the dark side and later find the true chosen one, a.k.a. Rey and bring true balance to the Force.

A new fan theory suggests that Rey is part of a large secret kept by the Jedi order — one that Yoda himself may have been aware of and kept for years and could be revealed in a Yoda movie. According to the theory, she is the reincarnation of a girl who, through a series of magical, Force-driven events, later grew into the woman who formed the first Jedi order. The woman promised she would return someday in the form of a young girl to restore balance to the Force, and this appears to be Rey.

Is this just one of the secrets that Yoda has kept all his long life? And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. It’s for that reason, and so much more, that we really need a solo Yoda movie sooner rather than later.
