Is Colin Farrell Heading To ‘Justice League’, With A ‘Game of Thrones’ Star In Tow?

(Warning: The following contains potential casting-related SPOILERS for next year’s Justice League movie, as well as some mild speculation relating to the movie’s villains. Proceed with whatever level of caution your faithful, Batwing-piloting butler suggests to you is wise…)

Now, with Justice League still the better part of a year and a half away from hitting theaters – and still very much filming on its London set – it’s perhaps not too surprising that speculation about potential casting additions remains rife. After all, with a whole lot of shooting time to go, there’s always the chance that some major casting decisions are still yet to be made – and that we could yet see a beloved comic-book hero (or fan-favorite performer) added to the cast.

The latest such murmurings?

Specifically, it seems that we may be set to see both Farrell and Game of Thrones‘ latter-day Daario Naharis, Michiel Huisman, in the upcoming superhero team-up extravaganza.

That, at least, is the latest casting news to emerge from the fog of rumor – albeit from a not especially reputable .

With that in mind, then – and with a pinch of salt firmly taken – it’s surely worth asking just who the duo could, if they do indeed turn up in Justice League, be playing. Farrell, after all, has the right blend of classical good looks, serious-staring ability and snarky humor to play pretty much any (older) superhero out there. A potential Green Lantern, then, perhaps – though who knows ?

Huisman, meanwhile, would likely fall afoul of Hollywood’s unwillingness to cast (non-British) European actors as superheroes, and is thus presumably more likely to be playing a villainous or supporting role. A supporting bad guy from Apokolips, perhaps, to pave the way for the arrival of Steppenwolf? A Die Hard-style European terrorist for Batman to battle in the first act? An unlikely piece of casting for the heroic Animal Man?

Sadly, of course, the odds are very much against the rumor turning out to be true – but that doesn’t mean that we don’t have some slightly more concrete casting news, too. Y’see:

Which, what with the actor being Welsh and all, and having appeared with blonde hair in the British TV show Stella, has inevitably led some to hope that he’s going to be playing fan-favorite snark machine John Constantine in the movie.

Which, admittedly, seems fairly unlikely, especially as the actor has already spoken publicly about the role to (since anyone playing as notable a cameo as Constantine would likely have been asked to keep a little quieter about their role in the movie):

“I’m not allowed to say yet what part I play but let’s just say I’ve a role in what will likely be the most expensive film ever made…”

Until we find out for sure, though, there’s certainly more than enough wiggle room in which to continue speculating wildly. The biggest question now, though?
