WARNING! THIS POST CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS FROM THE SEASON TWO FINALE OF THE FLASH. IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN IT YET AND DON’T WANT TO KNOW ANYTHING MORE, STOP NOW!
With that out of the way, after The Flash’s epic fight with Zoom, we all saw the Time Wraiths take Zoom away. But does that mean he’s dead? IDigitalTimes’ reporters don’t believe we’ve seen the last of him as evidenced by May 25th article. In fact, their supposition is that Zoom could become the Black Flash from the comics.
While I’m not sure that’s the path the writers will take with him, there is some evidence pointing to the speedster’s potential return.
First, We Don’t Actually Know That Zoom Died
Yes, Zoom was looking a little rough when the Time Wraiths carried him away, but there’s no way for us to know that they actually killed him. Is that what they do? Or is it simply a form of punishment? Could he regenerate when he returns to Earth Two? We simply don’t know what really takes place in the alternate universe.
Second, Cisco Did Vibe and Saw Earth Two Splitting in Two
Who else is going to be able to cause the kind of damage Cisco saw in his vision? Though the Reverse Flash is powerful, Zoom’s abilities eclipses his. We saw what he’d intended to do in the season finale of The Flash. It’s possible, because he could not accomplish that on Earth One, he settles for Earth Two which would, once again, send The Flash back to Earth Two. After all, The Flash couldn’t let innocent civilians die, and he’s bested Zoom once. He could do it again.
On The Other Hand, Teddy Sears Schedule Is Full
Teddy Sears, the actor who portrays Zoom, is already set to play in 24: Legacy which will presumably air simultaneously with The Flash. In addition, he doesn’t seem to have any difficulties booking roles to keep him busy. So that could preclude him from being available to shoot The Flash…at least that’s what I thought until I read this:
Not Even The Actor Is Sure Zoom Is Dead
In a comment to Enstarz.com , Teddy Sears had this to say about the possibility of Zoom’s return to Earth One.
“The door’s not shut,” the actor teased. “I’m not giving anything away about how things have ended…but moving onto 24 is not preventative.”
So, apparently, the actor’s schedule would not be so prohibitive as to prevent him from popping up on The Flash if the writers want to bring him back into the mix. But with The Flash preventing his mother’s death and the potential timeline disaster, won’t the fastest man alive have enough to contend with?
I’m going to be perfectly honest and say as much as I love Teddy Sears, Zoom annoyed me, and I rejoiced when the Time Wraiths took him away. But now I see my joy may be short-lived. This is one fan theory that could very well turn into reality.
What do you think about Zoom’s potential return? Do you think he should just stay gone so The Flash can focus on other villains?
