After weeks of speculation, it appears a foreign film website has accidentally revealed the official title for Jennifer Lawrence’s upcoming drama, directed by Noah’s Darren Aronofsky. The film, originally believed to be titled Day 6, has recently begun a grueling rehearsal schedule and will reportedly start filming soon, with production rumored to last well into the beginning of August.
Lawrence – who dropped out of The Rosie Project to work with Aronofsky – will co-star in the forthcoming feature alongside Javier Bardem, Ed Harris, Domhnall Gleeson, and Michelle Pfeiffer. The story is set to follow “a couple whose relationship is greatly tested with the arrival of some unexpected guests, who greatly disrupt their once peaceful existence.” It is unknown at this time who will be portraying the couple, though it can easily be pointed towards Lawrence as being one of them. Speculation says that Bardem will be portraying the other. But with the casting of Domhnall Gleeson, it’s reasonable to assume that he could be the actor tackling on that role as well.
The new title for the film, Mother, seems to indicate the character fans believe Pfeiffer will be playing, much to the delight of Pfeiffer’s adoring fan base, who initially thought the actress would be playing second fiddle to her younger co-stars.
The reveal of the new title was made at CinemaEurope, the film market festival that was recently held in Barcelona, Spain. Paramount Pictures is expected to distribute the film.
Mother is expected to be released in the United States on December 29, 2017. However, given the source of the information, both the title and the release date should be taken with a grain of salt until official confirmation is released by either Aronofsky himself or Protozoa Pictures.
