Forget Batman v. Superman or Captain America: Civil War — the battle of the year is about to commence over on HBO’s Game of Thrones in the penultimate episode of the season. Jon Snow is set to take on Ramsay Bolton in a , arguably the most highly anticipated moment of !

Take a look below:

Intense, right? Well, nothing less should be expected from this heated rivalry that has been brewing for several seasons. Let’s take a look back at four important storylines that led to this epic showdown.

Ramsay Torturing Theon Greyjoy

In arguably the most obscene storyline that the hit series has covered thus far, Ramsay tortured former Stark ally Theon Greyjoy. Let’s be honest, Theon isn’t particularly a nice person and he did turn his back on the Starks in previous seasons. However, the hellacious torture methods that Ramsay bestowed on him were completely unwarranted and ultimately introduced the world to the psychopath that is Ramsay Bolton.

Ramsay not only physically mutilated Theon, but he emotionally broke him — a storyline that continued for many seasons. Even now, Theon is a different person than he was before. This storyline set the wheels in motion for all that would come later.

Ramsay Abusing Sansa Stark

Ramsay played Sansa until their wedding, appearing to be a gentleman. However, it was on their wedding night when he showed his true colors — violating her and making Theon watch.

It was horrifying for us having to watch a character that we’d grown to love endure this abuse. Afterwards, Ramsay kept Sansa locked in the tower. He psychically abused her and only kept her alive so that she could deliver him an heir. Sansa’s abuse and imprisonment at the hands of Ramsay was the wake up call that Theon needed; he also realized that this could be his chance for redemption after his actions at Winterfell several seasons earlier.

With the impending battle, Ramsay’s defeat at the hands of Jon Snow would be the perfect culmination for this storyline and more importantly, it would be the perfect revenge for Sansa.

Ramsay Has Rickon Stark

In what was a rather shocking moment, Rickon Stark was apprehended by Ramsay. With the youngest Stark now a captive, he is at the mercy of the most dangerous man in all of Westeros.

In fighting Ramsay, Jon and Sansa are hoping to rescue their brother before Ramsay skins him alive.

Reclaiming Winterfell

Any fan of the show knows that Winterfell belongs to the Starks. Unfortunately, it has not been Stark property for several seasons now and is currently ruled by none other than the psychotic Ramsay Bolton.

As Sansa said several episodes ago, Winterfell is her and Jon’s home and amongst all of the other reasons above, they are fighting to reclaim ownership of their homeland. Winterfell belongs to the Starks and Jon intends to take it back.

It’s going to be a battle of epic proportions — the fight for Winterfell is on and . But who is it going to be?
