Katherine Heigl Is Pregnant With Her First Biological Child!

Katherine Heigl and her husband of eight years, musician Josh Kelley, are expecting their third child and their two adopted daughters can look forward to having a little brother in their lives.

The couple have confirmed to People magazine that their baby boy will arrive in January and they are absolutely to be adding to their family. Heigl and Kelley wrote a joint statement to their fans which reads:

“The Kelley clan is thrilled to announce that we are expecting a third addition to our family. Naleigh and Adelaide could not be more excited to welcome their new sibling into the fold and Josh and I are overflowing with joy and gratitude. This is an incredibly exciting time for us filled with hope, anticipation, and hormones. Well, only I’m filled with hormones, but everyone in the family gets to enjoy them. We couldn’t be more excited to be able to finally share this news with our fans and are looking forward to continuing to share the journey with you all. xoxo, Katie and Josh.”

The couple’s other children were both adopted and Katherine has previously explained how having an adopted sibling herself inspired her to become a parent to a child in need, she explained:

“Josh and I started talking about it before we were even engaged. My sister Meg is Korean, and my parents adopted her three years before I was born. I wanted my own family to resemble the one I came from, so I always knew I wanted to adopt from Korea. We have talked about having biological children as well, but we decided to adopt first. I just wanted to be a mom. So however we do that, it’s fine with me.”

Although they are both adopted, Naleigh and Adeliade have very different adoption stories. Naleigh was adopted from South Korea in 2009 when she was 9 months old. The tiny tot had a congenital heart defect, but she underwent open heart surgery in Korea before she travelled to the US and, according to Heigl “her heart is 100 percent fine now,”

Adeliade was adopted domestically in 2012 and Heigl has previously explained how the baby girl came into her life more quickly than they expected, she told The Tonight Show in 2012 that:

“This was fascinating because we started the adoption process again and we thought we were gonna adopt internationally, It’s a pretty long process. It can take years and then we started exploring because we had heard that Korea had gotten very hard to adopt from, and China had a very, very long waiting list and I was like, any day now. And so we started exploring the idea of domestic adoption – just exploring – and then my lawyer called and said, ‘There’s a birth mother and she’s due in four weeks and she’s all yours if you want her.”

this in an incredibly altruistic way to star a family. Well done, Katherine! If you’d like to make a big difference in a living creatures life but don’t have the resources to take in a baby right now,

Congratulations to the expectant parents, wishing your family the best in the future.
