King Kong Will Be How BIG in ‘Kong: Skull Island!?’

King Kong is one of the most popular American movie monsters of all time. The famous beast has played in multiple films including his original 1933 film simply titled King Kong. Kong’s most recent outing came in 2005, and was directed by The Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson. Jackson’s story amped up the action marvelously, as we got a really good look at Skull Island in the film.

The most recent re-imagining of Kong’s story has also spawned a few new attractions taking place in both Universal Studios Hollywood and Islands of Adventure in Orlando Florida. You can check out my review for Islands of Adventure’s newest attraction Skull Island: Reign of Kong by clicking right !

A brand new Kong film will be debuting next year with a stellar cast starring Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Toby Kebbell, John Goodman, and John C. Reilly. The film will be called Kong: Skull Island, and will mostly take place on Kong’s home turf. Unlike the other films, this movies time period will take place during the Vietnam War, and will provide our protagonists some much needed upgraded weaponry.

Kong Will Be Super-Sized!

Alex Ritman from , has recently announced that this would be the biggest Kong we’ve yet to see on the big screen. Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts teased audiences and has mentioned that this Kong will be different from previous iterations:

“This is going to be the biggest Kong there’s ever been. Not 10 foot or 30 foot, but a 100-foot ape.”

For those who know about Kong’s lore, he has been mostly portrayed as a 40-50 ft behemoth. Now, he will be much larger as this monster will be more than doubled his normal size. Based on some of the pictures released, it appears that this is the case.

Does This Make Sense?

Absolutely. Warner Bros. have announced that they will be tying in Gareth Edwards’s 2014 Godzilla with the latest King Kong film. With shared universes being such a popular part of movie franchises nowadays, it shouldn’t be much of a surprise that this is the plan Warner Bros. has decided to go with.

Warner Bros. has reported that they will be releasing a King Kong vs Godzilla film in the year 2020. Fans have smartly asked questions, including how a 40-50 ft Kong will be able to combat a 300 ft Godzilla. Well, we now know that Kong will in fact be 100 ft in the release of Kong: Skull Island. However for those of you doing the math, that still leaves a good 200 foot difference between the two. Godzilla would still triumph over the King even without using his powerful atomic breath. Well, I may have an answer…

Will Kong Continue To Grow?

While we’ve already had a King Kong vs Godzilla film that came out in 1962, the Kong in that film was already rather large. The movie didn’t fully discuss the reasons why Kong was so big, but most assumed that he was simply born that way.

On the other hand, Kong: Skull Island will have the biggest Kong yet, but he still can’t compete against a much larger Godzilla. Will Kong stay at 100 feet? I’d have to say no. Remember, this film takes place during the Vietnam War era in the ’70s. What else took place during this time? That’s right, the Cold War era.

We already know that Godzilla was created due to atomic weapons, so perhaps Kong was also poisoned by radiation at some point, and thus will continue to grow when he finally meets with Godzilla. Gareth Edwards’s Godzilla also takes place during present day, so that would give Kong plenty of time to increase in size. Kong will also have to put on more muscle if he’s to take on one of the biggest monsters in cinematic history.

Will King Kong finally meet his match against Godzilla? I guess will have to find out!

So what’s your opinion on this news? Is 100 ft large enough for Kong to take on Godzilla or do you think he’ll continue to grow to make it more of a fair battle? Please share your thoughts in the comment section below and don’t forget to share and follow me on my !
