As the petition continues to gather momentum, Idina Menzel, the voice behind Queen Elsa herself weighed in on the topic, telling ;

“I think it’s great. Disney’s just gotta contend with that. I’ll let them figure that out.”

It’s kind of hard to argue with the Queen of Arendelle herself.

While Mendel’s support isn’t firm confirmation that Elsa could be given a girlfriend in Frozen 2, a recent interview with suggests that there’s still a chance that this could become a reality;

If Disney wishes to address the lack of LGBT representation in their films, then Elsa’s character would be the perfect place to start. Frozen’s empowering message of tolerance inspired fans of all ages to be comfortable with themselves no matter what, celebrating love beyond the heteronormative ‘happily ever after’ perpetuated by Disney in the past.
