Fans have been eager to speculate about what exactly is going on with the for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The upcoming revision was rumored to cover , though anonymous sources associated with the production have said they , and now Rogue One star has weighed in on the controversy.

In an interview with The Independent, Mikkelsen shed more light on the Rogue One reshoots, revealing that they aren’t as extensive as some have claimed.

When asked about the new filming sessions, Mikkelsen said:

“Basically, all the big films I have done always have reshoots, it is part of their budget. They’re either not super happy with a scene bit, the way we were acting, or maybe there’s something they want to add. It’s not a new thing, it happens with every film. Whether it’s bigger or less, I have no idea, I have nothing to compare with. It’s the same film, it’s just adding little bits here and there to do the final polishing. That’s my feeling.”

The actor also called coverage of the reshoots “free publicity” for the film, revealing that he’s only scheduled to return to the set for one extra day of filming.

Mikkelsen’s comments should be comforting to fans, especially his note that “it’s the same film.” Early rumors speculated that Disney execs called for massive reshoots to lighten the tone, keeping the film more in line with the Star Wars saga. But Mikkelsen’s comments indicate that the film will retain the darker war-drama style we saw in its teaser trailer. Moreover, the fact that Mikkelsen is only set to return for one day of reshoots seems to indicate that the additional filming isn’t covering half the film. We don’t know how big his role in the film is, but if production was drastically changing the film, Mikkelsen would likely be on set more.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on December 16. What do you think is actually going on behind the scenes? Let us know in the comments.
