Trailer for Moana.

From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes Moana, a sweeping, CG-animated feature film about an adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana (voice of Auli’i Cravalho) meets the once-mighty demigod Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson), who guides her in her quest to become a master wayfinder. Together, they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds, and along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she’s always sought: her own identity.Directed by the renowned film making team of Ron Clements and John Musker (The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, The Princess & the Frog) and produced by Osnat Shurer (Lifted, One Man Band).

There is quite lineup of voice-over actors/actresses in this film, here is a little more about the characters they play:

Auli’i Cravalho as Moana, the only daughter of a chief in a long line of navigators, who sets sail to an island with a demi-god to help her family.

Dwayne Johnson as Maui, the legendary demi-god who also sets off with Moana on her journey.Temuera Morrison as Chief Tui, Moana’s overprotective father and chief of Motunui Island.

Nicole Scherzinger as Sina, Moana’s mother.

Rachel House as Gramma Tala, an old woman who has a close relationship with Moana and shares her passion for the ocean.

as Tamatoa, a villainous 50-foot crab from Lalotai, the realm of monsters.

Alan Tudyk as Hei Hei, Maui and Moana’s pet rooster. Tudyk will also voice two other characters.Disney is right on track with their promotion materials for Moana. First they start off with a complete tease in the we got back in January. And then we do not get our first until June, which was a true teaser and did not divulge very much about the film. And now we get our first full Trailer.

As with all of Disney’s latest movies, the visuals are amazing. There is a lot of fast action with tons of moving parts and it all looks great…details! Dwayne Johnson being the voice of Maui is starting to grow on me. He does have quite an over the top masculine voice which is critical for animated films, plus when you look at Maui you cab definitely picture the Rock in him.

I was a little skeptical of this film, but after watching this trailer I am more excited to see it. The film seems to be jam packed with humor (of course assuming they did not just show us all the funny parts) and looks to be a fantastical adventure. I know my kids will definitely want to see this when it hits theaters and now I am too.
