Filming is underway for Season 7 of The Walking Dead, and fans are going to extremes for any clues regarding Season 6’s . In the finale, Negan and his barbed bat Lucille struck a fatal blow to one of our poor, beloved characters, leaving the big for the Season 7 premiere episode.
Fans in the Atlanta area have resorted to using drones to try to catch a glimpse of filming. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Scott M. Gimple had expressed annoyance at the lengths people go to in a bid spoil the show’s plot:
“With the advent of drones, it can become such a game of cat and mouse that as far as sneaking a peek at the actors walking to set, we want to just keep our actors safe.”
But its not just the actors and crew Gimple wants to keep safe; it’s all the show’s juicy secrets. And with a secret this big, AMC is going the distance to make sure this one doesn’t leak.
According to THR, sources have revealed that the 11 cast members featured in the Season 6 cliffhanger have each filmed a death scene.
That means Rick (Andrew Lincoln), Carl (Chandler Riggs), Michonne (Danai Gurira), Glenn (Steven Yeun), Maggie (Lauren Cohan), Eugene (Josh McDermitt), Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green), Daryl (Norman Reedus), Aaron (Ross Marquand), Rosita (Christian Serratos) and Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) have ALL died on camera. The director and producers of The Walking Dead will edit in the scene of their intended victim shortly before the show airs.
A lot of work on the part of the cast and crew — and certainly an added expense — but then again, we’d like to see a fan try to fly a drone into an editing booth.
Do you think fans are making it more difficult for our favorite shows and movies to film?
