Jack Reacher, king of the one-on-five circle fight, a man who does better when the odds are stacked against him, and an above-the-law rogue agent is back on big screens this Fall. Tom Cruise reprises his role in Jack Reacher: Never Go Back and in a new TV spot he’s showing that his particular brand of justice is back in demand.
This time Reacher’s past is sneaking up on him. Accused of a 16-year-old murder, Jack has to prove his own innocence while also tracking down a missing military leader. The official synopsis for the film reads as thus:
‘Jack Reacher: Never Go Back’ follows the title character as he returns to Virginia to meet the head of his former unit. But she’s missing, he’s being charged with a crime committed nearly 20 years ago, and he may even have a daughter. Making things right will lead him on a cross-country chase to uncover the truth – and maybe even a family.
In the newest TV spot we see Jack being called upon, his skills heralded by a military leader who has his old job. Major Susan Turner, Cobie Smulders, needs Jack to help her track down the bad dudes who took out her men in some sort of operation. As the above description states, sounds like her fate is to go missing. But we get a look at her interactions with Jack in the below video.
Despite the logline of the new poster for the film, Jack clearly does need to revisit his past, so maybe never say “never” or at least not quite so many times. The poster embraces that all-American anti-hero Jack Reacher embodies (despite his obvious disdain for American militaristic protocol and so-called laws.)
Edward Zwick directs this sequel to the 2012 original and those craving action come October 21st will likely find it in abundance in this latest installment of the JackReacher franchise. Seriously, why is anyone even attempting to fight this ex-military dude? If this isn’t enough of the detective badass for ya, there are about 20 books in Lee Child’s series and I hear the character is written as blonde and tall.
