As the next installment in the Star Wars universe, we can’t seem to get enough about Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Every that trickles out of the tightly lipped Star Wars factory that is Disney/Lucasfilms is info we scoop up greedily. Whether its news on re-shoots or any tidbit on plot we can get. Now Entertainment Weekly bestows on us 16 new pictures from the film.
Most look like stills of scenes featured in the trailer (below), so not necessarily much we haven’t seen before, but you know we love to get detailed with our analysis of pictures. Here are a few of the featured photos that have us excited for December 16 to just go ahead and get here already!
Lots Of Stormtroopers
Looks our rebels will be heavily sought after in the film with plenty of Stormtroopers on the prowl. The pictures show us the different iterations of Stormtroopers and what they looked like while Luke was still just a whiny kid shooting womp rats in his T-16 on Tattooine.
The Rebel Team
This film feels even more ensemble-oriented than The Force Awakens and while we’ve seen a fair amount of Felicity Jones’s Jyn Erso, it’s nice to get a look at the other rebels on a mission to steal plans for the Death Star together. We’ve seen Forest Whitaker’s in this exact same post in the trailer. We do get a closer look at Jyn’s robot K-2SO (Kaytoo) voiced by Alyn Tudyk and Jyn’s colleagues Chirrut Imwe (Donnie Yen), a blind warrior, and Baze Malbus (Jiang Wen), Chirrut’s close friend.
Badly Photoshopped Headshots
Not sure why EW would want to showcase some oddly photoshopped headshots of a few of the main characters onto white backgrounds, but perhaps in a highly green screened film, this is as close as we can get to a set picture. Diego Luna’s Captain Cassian Andor, Ben Mendelsohn’s Orson Krennic, and Jyn herself are all featured in headshot form. Of course the most interesting bits are what the actors have to say about their characters.
For instance Mendelsohn explains Krennic and his Stormtroopers in this way:
“They all have their own agendas. They don’t really trust each other and are always ready to backstab each other. Maybe that’s why the forces of good prevail and the forces of evil do not.”
Spoiler alert much Mendelsohn? Not that we don’t actually know how this movie ends, what with it being a prequel and all.
Head on over to for more of the photos and a few words from the actors on their roles.
Do any of these have you excited or is this just more of the same thus far?
