Fans are going into total nostalgia overdrive after the news today that the long awaited Hey Arnold! movie . With many of the original cast returning to voice the beloved characters of the ’90s and 2000s classic, Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie promises to be a fun movie reboot of a much loved show.
While the Hey Arnold! film is still very much in the production stage, given the audience response, it seems as though Nickelodeon has a winner on their hands already, and surely must be eyeing some of their other shows that might be next to get the reboot treatment. Sure, they could turn into films, but you just can’t beat the classics! So, which classic Nickelodeon TV shows might we see getting the feature-length reboot treatment in the future? Well, we can’t be certain, but here are four that I think would be awesome:
1. Aaahh!!! Real Monsters
Aaahh!!! Real Monsters followed three young monsters named Ickis, Oblina and Krumm who attended a school for monsters and learned to frighten humans. The series, which was set in a New York garbage dump, ran for four seasons from 1994 until 1997. There are rumors that there was to be an Aaahh!!! Real Monsters TV movie back in 1997, but following the series’ cancellation it appears to have been axed.
2. Rocko’s Modern Life
Rocko’s Modern Life was certainly one of the more bizarre Nickelodeon shows, but it also remains one of the most beloved. The series originally ran for four seasons from 1993 until 1996 and followed the antics of an Australian immigrant wallaby named Rocko, his pet dog, Spunky, and best friend, Heffer. Despite being targeted at children, Rocko’s Modern Life
3. Angry Beavers
Brothers Norbert and Daggett were the main characters in Nickelodeon series Angry Beavers, which went for four seasons. The show followed the two young bachelors as they set out from the family dam to start a new, independent life in the forest, encountering various obstacles along the way. Angry Beavers is currently part of The Splat‘s permanent lineup, proving it’s still a crowd favorite 15 years after it ended.
4. As Told By Ginger
Running for three seasons, As Told by Ginger followed middle school (and later high school) student Ginger Foutley as she tries, along with her friends, to rise beyond the position of school geek. As Told by Ginger was a unique animated series due to the fact that the characters developed and aged throughout the series, instead of remaining the same age. It also had an amazing intro song sung by Macy Gray. Surely Nickelodeon could do an amazing reboot of this series showing where the characters ended up 12 years later?
What Nickelodeon show would you love to see get a movie?
