As of today, the Power Rangers empire consists of 23 television seasons of 19 different themed series and two theatrical films, with this Power Rangers film being the third.

Which I think had to be an overwhelming task. People who are fans of Power Rangers are die hard and have certain expectations which can be very difficult to meet.
The teaser trailer does a good job at focusing the core characters and them coming to grips with their powers. Not everyone is familiar with Power Rangers, so this helps introduce them to a potential new audience.
