The re-release will celebrate the 15th anniversary of The Fast and the Furious, and the film will be screened in around 1,500 cinemas!Tickets are already on sale over on Fandango , but you’d better race faster than Dom and Brian to get them.The Fast and the Furious was first released on June 22, 2001, and at the time starred a cast of virtual unknowns. An unexpected hit, the film raked in impressive $144.5 million at the domestic box office and $207.3 million worldwide. Fast forward 15 years and the film has now become a franchise consisting of seven films, with an eighth due for released in April, 2017. The franchise has made over $3.9 billion at the global box office to date. The Fast and the Furious also helped turn actors Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster and the late Paul Walker into household names.Universal distribution chief Nick Carpou had this to say about the film’s upcoming re-release:Series producer Neal H. Moritz also added:Fast 8 is currently is production, with filming recently taking place in Cuba .
