All my bets were on , but turns out has successfully taken over the world instead — and not everyone’s thrilled about it. For example, .
Others may not have made such bold statements but many are appalled at certain players’ complete lack of tact. After all, there is a time and place for everything and a concert is a perfect example of where not to catch ’em all — particularly not when Beyoncé or Rihanna are performing.
A fan recently went livid when he was at the Queen B’s concert at Paris’s Stade de France during her World Tour. They were amongst the members of the audience closest to the legendary performer. Instead of bathing in all of the moment’s glory, this particular so-called fan was looking down on her phone playing Pokémon GO. Yeah. Naturally, the other fan who witnessed it went a bit mad.
“This b*tch is finding Pokémon. She’s finding Pokémon when Beyoncé’s singing. F*cking Pokémon! Look at where she is. Look at where she is. She’s next to the stage!”
Was there a misunderstanding in the lyrics “Bow down b*tches”? Fortunately, Beyoncé didn’t take notice to the distracted fan, although one must wonder what her reaction would have been. Better yet, as the upset fan said in his Instagram video caption, “She’s lucky Solange never saw her.”
addressed her audience at a concert in Lille, France, one of the many stops on her ANTI World Tour. Riri’s message made it clear that Pokémon was not invited. In fact, no one was welcome over the phone if their intent was to steal away the attention. Can you really blame her?
“I don’t want to see you texting your boyfriends and your girlfriends. I don’t want to see you catching any Pokémons [sic] up in this bitch!”
Shouldn’t it go without saying? If you spent significant hours of your life preparing for an epic performance, wouldn’t you want your fans to give you the respect of watching it? It really isn’t much to ask… Besides, those concerts cost a pretty penny, so why spend that precious time on a free game? Maybe Rihanna doesn’t care that much after all, as long as the b*tch better have her money.
Rihanna didn’t make any comments regarding social media, she focused on texting and the Pokémon GO phenomenon. Some celebrities, such as Adele, have clarified that no one should even be filming. At a recent concert, . Her rationale was that it took away from the experience and the moment, similarly to Rihanna’s implicit viewpoint.
“Can you stop filming me with a video camera? Because I’m really here in real life, you can enjoy it in real life. Can you take your tripod down? This isn’t a DVD, this is a real show. I’d really like you to enjoy my show because there’s lots of people outside that couldn’t come in.”
There’s no doubt that Adele probably would have ejected a fan for playing Pokémon GO at her concert. The “video camera fan” was merely trying to immortalize the moment, but Adele would have probably kicked out a fan if they were playing said game. She would probably even get a more appreciative fan that was waiting outside to take the gamer’s place.
Not all celebrities are hating on Pokémon GO… In fact, many have “come out” as avid players, including but not limited to , Jimmy Fallon, Wiz Khalifa, Ellen DeGeneres, Chrissy Teigen and Joe Jones. Joe’s brother Nick recently called out his friend on Twitter for her somewhat addictive problem with the game.
Does this mean Demi wouldn’t mind if someone played Pokémon GO in a concert on her tour with ? Or perhaps she’ll even be the one playing while on stage. That’d be a sort of plot-twist. One must wonder where the boundaries are, and if even Demi can step away from the game.
Will she understand the difficulty in leaving Pokémon GO behind, or will she acknowledge that even her fellow players should snap out of their virtual reality and into actual reality? At least long enough for them to enjoy the duo’s concert… For all we know, they’ll start with “Catch ’em all” group searches.
Do you think it’s acceptable to play Pokémon GO at a concert?
