Someone Called A Referee: Justin Bieber Is Getting Sued For Allegedly Stealing The Melody Of ‘Sorry’

Artist White Hinterland has filed a lawsuit against Bieber claiming the vocal loop at the beginning of “Sorry” is from her own song, “Ring the Bell.” She also argues that the song’s synthesizers and overall style are too similar to her own to not constitute a copyright infringement. Producer Skrillex and co-writers Julia Michaels, Justin Tranter, Sonny Moore and Michael Tucker are included in the lawsuit.Hinterland added that she’d attempted to reach out to the Canadian superstar, but he ignored her request to withdraw his song. Her filing would surely make more than one Belieber angry: On top of financial compensation, she’s asking for Bieber to be forbidden to play “Sorry.”Can you hear any similarities?Apparently stealing from an existing song is a mistake that Bieber’s made once or twice: He’s also currently battling a $10 million lawsuit for “Somebody to Love,” a song he collaborated on with Usher, which singer De Rico and his songwriting partner Mareio Overton claim is based on their own song with the same title.
