More breaking news from the world of casting this week: Sources confirmed to Variety that star(and clearly Tom Hardy’s long-lost little brother) Logan Marshall-Green is in talks to join the cast, which is rapidly filling out.
Just like the rumors from the other day that , there are no details yet on the character Marshall-Green is set to play. The only thing we know is that it will be some sort of villainous role. Again, this is only from sources speaking to Variety and unconfirmed by Marvel, so take it with a grain of salt.
If you’re not all that familiar with Marshall-Green’s work, check out this featurette of him discussing his character in Prometheus:
Thus far, the plot details are being kept heavily under wraps by Marvel, including the exact roles for most of the already-confirmed cast joining the production. Tom Holland will be reprising his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Marisa Tomei will be returning as Aunt May, both of whom we saw this year in . Robert Downey, Jr. will also appear as Tony Stark/Iron Man.
Other confirmed cast members include Zendaya as a character named Michelle, Kenneth Choi as the principal of Midtown High, Michael Keaton as an as-yet-unconfirmed villain (but sources say Vulture), and ‘sTony Revolori as a character named Manuel.
UPDATE: Literally one minute after I published this, Deadline broke the news that star Martin Starr has also joined the cast, but just like Marshall-Green, we have absolutely no clue who he’s playing or what his character’s role will be. But considering his pedigree, we can safely assume it will be a role that’s at least slightly comedic.
Spider-Man: Homecoming will be in theaters on July 7, 2017.
