Whilst Harrison Ford will be 76 years old by the time Indiana Jones 5 hits theaters in 2019, that doesn’t mean that the pop culture icon will meet his doom in the upcoming sequel, at least that’s what director Steven Spielberg promises us.
Harrison Ford’s other iconic character, Han Solo, met his fate in 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens at the hands of his son, Kylo Ren. But Steven Spielberg promises “The one thing I will tell you is I’m not killing off Harrison [Ford] at the end of [Indiana Jones 5],” the director also said that he’s “super excited” to return to the franchise.
I think we can all pretty much assume that this next installment in the Indiana Jones series will be the last. After all, Ford is in his 70’s and probably wants to retire the character in the best way possible, not with Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull, which I believe isn’t the travesty many fans hail it as, but isn’t the best way to leave the character.
It’s great to know that Indy won’t bite the bullet, Jones is a classic character of cinema, and I’d much prefer that Spielberg and Ford retire him rather than kill him off. Are you happy to hear that Indy won’t be dying in Indiana Jones 5? Let me know in the comments or on Twitter @JamesPorter97
Indiana Jones 5 is set to release on July 19th 2019.
