Superhero Birthday Extravaganza: Wishing Captain America, Quicksilver & Nightcrawler A Marvel-lous Day!

There’s going to be a lot of cake handed around the Marvel offices today as not one, but three superheroes are all celebrating their birthdays on June 13.

When they first hit Hollywood, it might have been hard to imagine Chris Evans, Aaron Taylor-Johnson or Kodi Smit-McPhee as superheroes, but all three actors successfully took each role and made it their own.

Don’t mess with Cap.

Unfortunately, we don’t know the personal addresses of these actors yet, so instead of sending them utility belts or stretchy underwear as gifts, let’s celebrate their birthdays by taking a look back at their earliest roles, charting how far they’ve come.

Chris Evans’s first breakout hit was Not Another Teen Movie, which is probably most memorable for introducing the world to a naked Evans covered in carefully placed whipped cream.

Since then, , tackling the superhero genre first with his role as the Human Torch in Fantastic Four alongside more serious sci-fi fare such as Snowpiercer and comedies like What’s Your Number too.

Just ten years after Not Another Teen Movie first came out, Evans took on the role of his career as Marvel’s Captain America, starring in multiple films in a franchise with just the third installment alone, Captain America: Civil War.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson Turns 26 Today

After starring in a number of small roles on the stage and TV, British actor Taylor-Johnson caught the attention of Hollywood with the John Lennon biopic Nowhere Boy, where he met his future wife, director Sam Taylor-Johnson.

Just a year later, in 2010, Aaron took on his first superhero role in the controversial cult film Kick-Ass, where he played a regular teenager who decided to become a vigilante and fight crime on his own terms.

Since then, Johnson has starred in a number of blockbusters, including Godzilla and Avengers: Age of Ultron, where he officially joined the Marvel stable as Quicksilver, the lightning fast speedster with an unfortunate case of premature grey hair.

Happy birthday, Aaron Taylor-Johnson! Next up for the young star is a role in Tom Ford’s highly anticipated crime drama, Nocturnal Animals.

Kodi Smit-McPhee Turns 20 Today

Kodi may be the youngest superhero celebrating his birthday today, but the Australian star has been acting since 2005, impressing in a number of memorable roles before he even hit puberty.

Powerful turns in dark fare such as The Road and Let Me In led to a part in the tongue-twisting blockbuster Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and a key role in the cult hit Slow West, where Kodi shone next to the acclaimed actor Michael Fassbender.

Smit-McPhee and Fassbender reunited this year on screen, starring in , X-Men: Apocalypse. Kodi’s performance as the lovable Nightcrawler was a highlight of the film, where the young actor successfully stood out within the movie’s large ensemble.

Happy birthday, Kodi Smit-McPhee! We’ll next see the up-and-coming star in the lead role for the historical action flick The Solutrean.
