It is safe to say that Harry Potter was- and still is- one of the most influential and amazing cinematic series ever created. With its plot, superior characters and phenomenal magic, it’s a world that has stolen the hearts of a whole generation. Fans have even began a petition for a to be released, so we can walk through the streets performing spells for magical quests. But, in amazing wizarding world, which spells should such a game possess? Well here are the top 10 most magical and amazing spells from the equally as awesome series:
A simple spell that that can summon almost anything the wielder calls for, it has saved Harry and his friends on countless occasions. Remember the Hungarian Horntail? If it hadn’t been for this little spell, Harry might left the stadium a little crispier.
One of the Unforgivable Curses, Crucio is used to torture its victims until they spill all of their secrets or their minds break. Although Harry became the victim of the Crucio spell a few times the most well known survivors are Frank and Alice Longbottom, who were tortured and driven to insanity when performed the curse on them.
Although not so commonly used throughout the series, Avis is a true feat of magic. Used by Hermione in The Half Blood Prince, this spell allowed her to conjure up a flock of birds which she eventually sends after Ron when he appears with Lavender Brown. In a bit of a jealous rage Hermione sends these birds after Ron but, even after that, he still didn’t get the message.
A particularly bloody curse created by the notorious Half-Blood Prince Severus Snape, it causes deep bleeding gashes to appear across the victim’s face and chest. Harry is the sole caster of this spell in the series; little did he know the effects the spell would have on the unsuspecting .
The favoured charm of the peace-seeking DA, expelliarmus is a disarming spell which, if cast properly, will cause their opponent wand to fly out of their grasp. This spell is ideal for acquiring new wands without actually killing anyone (yes. that’s a good thing- unless you’re a Deatheater).
This was taught to the Hogwarts third years by their greatest Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, Remus Lupin. This spell is used to banish Boggarts (creatures which take not he form of your greatest fear), and transform them into less menacing (and often more comical) shapes. This was a spell that audiences around the world really enjoyed seeing- that is until Harry and Remus stepped in front of the Boggart!
Never fear walking to the bathroom at night with this spell. Lumos allows a small orb of light to appear at the end of the wielder’s wand, giving at least some form of visibility. Lumos is also used as a sign of respect to great wizards who have passed away. On the night the great Albus Dumbledore was killed, the yards of Hogwarts were filled with these magical lights (Nope, I’m not crying, I just have something in my eyes!) This charm is so high on my list due to the great and phenomenal role it plays in the first Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them trailer: it’s the first spell officially uttered by the the young Newt Scamander:
3) Avada Kedavra
Lord Voldemort’s favorite spell is another Unforgivable Curse which instantly kills its victims. Many a great wizard and witch fell to this curse: all but the infant Harry Potter. It was Harry’s unlikely survival of this curse that dubbed him ‘The Boy Who Lived’.
2) Wingardium Leviosa
A very close second on my list, Wingardium Leviosa allows the wielder to make objects levitate. One of the first spells used in the Harry Potter series, it is a particular favorite of fans due to Hermione’s correction of Ron’s pronunciation of the spell. This is one scene all Harry Potter fans have quoted at least million times, see for yourself!
1) Expecto Patronum
The number one most magical and amazing spell ever created in the wizarding world must be the Expecto Patronum charm. A protection spell used to ward off a number of dark beings, namely Dementors, it is said to be one of the most difficult spells to learn, and Harry masters it magnificently.
So there you have it- the 10 most amazing and magical spell and curses as yet revealed by the wizarding world to us muggles. But, with them only a couple of months away, who knows what else may come flying our way?

Pretty much a fan of all but if you come at me with horror I have a salt shaker and an iron rod and I’m not afraid to use them 😀
