Season 6 of Game of Thrones is sadly coming to an end, but HBO promises to give us two jaw-dropping episodes before they sign off for another year. This weekend we will finally get to see what might be in Game of Thrones history with “Battle of the Bastards.”
Stephen Patterson, one of our great Creators, that the epic clash between the nefarious Ramsay Bolton and the honorable Jon Snow has been long in the making. And it sounds like some behind-the-scenes hype has surrounded the confrontation as well.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ramsay Bolton actor Iwan Rheon revealed that he’s been wanting a face off against Jon Snow for a very long time. Since his character was first introduced in Season 3, Rheon had his eyes set on going head-to-head with The Bastard of Winterfell.
“Anyone who has asked me, ‘Who would you like Ramsay to meet?’ My answer has always been, ‘Jon Snow.’ He’s the antithesis of Ramsay. They’re almost a yin and a yang. They both come from such a similar place yet they’re so different. And even though they’re enemies, they’ve both risen so far as bastards, which is almost incomprehensible, and now they’re both here facing each other. They couldn’t be any more different, yet more similar.”
He makes a fantastic point. The similarities between their characters is one of the most enticing aspects of “Battle of the Bastards.” As Rheon stated, Jon Snow and Ramsay Bolton are two sides of the same coin. Both are bastards to nobel men of noble houses, they have both climbed the rungs of the power ladder and they both want to take control of the North.
Having these two men finally fight one another is truly a case of “good vs. evil.” While neither of their fates are assured, I think most fans are hoping that Jon comes out victorious. It would be extremely gratifying to see Ramsay Bolton killed in the most horrible possible way at the hands of Jon Snow. When it comes to Game of Thrones, the most obvious and satisfying answer is rarely the one we’re left with.
I guess we’ll just have to wait until Sunday night to see who will come out on top! What are some of your predictions? Let us know in the comments section.
Season 6, Episode 9 of Game of Thrones “Battle of the Bastards” will air on HBO on Sunday night.
Who do you think will be victorious in “Battle of the Bastards?”
