How great was this year’s offering of San Diego Comic Con trailers? From , to the First Lady of DC Comics kicking ass on the big screen , DC pulled out the big guns and left smiling.
Marvel weren’t taking this lying down though, finally confirming what we’d been hoping for: . Not only that, but we got too, which you can check out below.
Speaking of Doctor Strange, Marvel Studios President and de-facto lord of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the almighty Kevin Feige, dropped something Strange-related regarding another upcoming Marvel property during the Comic Con. If you guessed Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 you’d be correct, or you’d just read the title of this article.
If you were hoping to see a teaser at the SDCC you were probably left a little disappointed. We weren’t treated to any footage of the not all that far off movie, but instead we learned a little about what we will be seeing when next May rolls around.
Say Hello To Ego
You’ve probably heard by now that Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn revealed that Kurt Russell’s character is in fact the human embodiment of — and is also said to be Star-Lord’s father (hold your “yo momma” jokes to the end please).
How exactly this is going to pan out will be interesting to witness, especially in terms of reconciling this with J’son/Jason of Spartax — Star-Lord’s canonical father from the comic books. (Don’t feel too bad for him though, he’s a bit of a douche.)
There was some footage screened to Comic Con attendees, but nothing for us sad sacks who couldn’t attend the conference itself. But that’s where Kevin Feige stepped in, to drop a little teaser about when the general public can expect to get their first look at some of that sweet Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 footage.
Where’s The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Trailer At?
According to Feige — via a report from Collider — we “might” see the first Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 trailer when Marvel’s next movie drops, attached as one of the pre-roll trailers we all love watching before the movie itself (but after those terrible adverts). The next Marvel feature release is, of course, Doctor Strange which lands in the USA November 4th, 2016.
Given that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set for a May 2017 release, a trailer premiere of November seems about right, setting the stage a good seven months before the big event itself. What will we see in the trailer? A first good look at Ego? An ? Star-Lord finally getting that blacklight out?
On second thoughts, better not.
So there you have it. No Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 trailer for a while yet, but you can start counting down the days till Doctor Strange in the meantime. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set for a May 5, 2017 release, behind Doctor Strange which lands November 5, 2016.
