Despite a myriad of previous roles, it was the film adaptation of Suzanne Collin’s dystopian universe that catapulted Jennifer Lawrence to international fame back in 2012. Four years on and the 25-year-old actress has certainly proved she’s more Katniss Evergreen than Everdeen, what with being this year’s , and dropping while also dropping .
Now, only half a year after the release of the final movie in the Hunger Games franchise, Lawrence has lined up four super interesting projects. Let’s take a look:
1. Venturing Into The Unknown In It’s What I Do
The film will be an adaptation of Lynsey Addario’s It’sWhat I Do: A Photographer’s Life of Love and War, a memoir from the woman who searches for truth in the world’s most dangerous locations. Jennifer Lawrence will be directed by Steven Spielberg in this fascinating depiction of the female journalist, who was once one of four people held captive by the Libyan Army in 2011.
While waiting for the movie’s release, this might be one to stick on your reading list for the book has been described as:
“Beautifully written and vividly illustrated” — Boston Globe
“A rare gift: an intimate look into the personal and professional life of a war correspondent… a powerful read…” — Dallas Morning News
“An unflinching memoir.” — Washington Post
“A remarkable journalistic achievement from a Pulitzer Prize and MacArthur Fellowship winner that crystalizes the last 10 years of global war and strife while candidly portraying the intimate life of a female photojournalist. Told with unflinching candor.” — Kirkus
Hopefully the film will do it justice!
Release Date: TBD
2. Fighting The Feds In Bad Blood
Nope, as much as I’d love it, this is not a movie based on Taylor Swift’s 2010 hit; in fact, the narrative couldn’t be further from it. The movie will focus on the federal investigation of entrepreneur Elizabeth Holmes’s (Lawrence) blood-testing bio-tech company, which catapults her to fame with an estimated value of billions, that is until her integrity is called into question.
As Bad Blood will be directed by The Big Short‘s Adam McKay, who won the Best Screenplay Oscar back in February, it seems like this film will have similar big-hit potential.
Release Date: TBD
3. Flying To The stars In Passengers
Jennifer Lawrence will star alongside Chris Pratt and Michael Sheen in this star-gazing tale with a super intriguing synopsis:
A spacecraft is transporting thousands of people to a distant colony planet that has a malfunction in one of its sleep chambers. As a result, a single passenger is awakened 90 years before anyone else. Faced with the prospect of growing old and dying alone, he eventually decides to wake up a second passenger.
Passengers also features a sex scene between Lawrence and Pratt, which was apparently so awkward to film JLaw had to call her mom and , so there’s that to entice you, too.
Release Date: December 21, 2016
4. Probably Losing Her Mind In An Untitled Darren Aronofsky Project
With Requiem for a Dream‘s director Darren Aronofsky helming this so far untitled project, we can probably expect Jennifer Lawrence to head in a bold and totally different direction, which is already an exciting proposal. Domhnall Gleeson (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Michelle Pfeiffer (Scarface), Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men), Ed Harris (A History of Violence) and Brian Gleeson (Snow White and the Huntsman) will co-star in this film that centers on a couple’s tested relationship following the arrival of uninvited guests.
While that synopsis is clearly very thin at the moment, the team involved indicates that this will be a very interesting watch indeed.
Release Date: TBD
