The Next 5 Movies From Ryan Reynolds That’ll Take You Right Up Main Street

Ryan Reynolds’s Hollywood domination may have been a long time in the making but his recent success in the Deadpool has firmly cemented this adorable, ishly-handsome on the star circuit. And we couldn’t be happier about it.

This also means, of course, that he now has the ability to be picky about the movies he stars in and is probably the reason why each one of his five upcoming films all sound pretty damn awesome:

1. Truth In Advertising

With potential to be totally Mad Men and feature a DILF-life crisis that would rival even the Don-est of Drapers, Ryan Reynolds is set to star in Truth in Advertising, an adaptation of John Kenney’s debut novel — a satire on corporate and consumer culture — of the same name. Starring as Fin Dolan, an ad-man forced to cancel Christmas vacation in exchange for a holiday stuck to his desk, his character begins to contemplate the meaning of life after noting those close to him are all moving forward while he remains stuck in neutral.

The book has been described as smart, funny and genius, three words I’d use to describe Reynolds anyway, so it would seem that this is a match made in heaven!

Release date: TBD

2. The Hitman’s Bodyguard

Partnering up with an absolutely bangin’ cast that includes Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman, Salma Hayek and Daredevil‘s Élodie Yung, Ryan Reynolds plays the world’s top protection agent in the action-comedy The Hitman’s Bodyguard. The story follows Reynolds and his new client, the hitman (Jackson), and considering they both come to the field carrying totally opposite agendas — decimate and protect — they hate each other. Regardless, they’re now pinned side by side with 24 hours to get from England to the Hague with only a murderous Eastern European dictator (Oldman) standing in their way.

They had me at the cast line-up, tbh. Get in my face immediately.

Release date: TBD

3. Deadpool 2

I know right? You’re probably wondering whose balls he had to fondle to get a second movie — but who TF cares? It’s coming and we could not be more excited to see Reynolds return as the Merc with a Mouth.

The movie was and while we don’t know much about the plot as of yet, we can happily chow down on chimichangas until that point — and, as 20th Century Fox has announced that October 6, 2017 and March 2, 2018 are set in stone for Marvel movies, it’s most likely Deadpool 2 will hit theaters on one of those days.

4. Life

In Skydance and Sony Picture’s sci-fi pic Life, Ryan Reynolds is doing a Matt Damon and flitting off to Mars, except unlike Damon, he comes back promptly with the rest of his International Space Station crew, carrying actual proof of otherworldly signs of life.

Co-starring alongside Jake Gyllenhaal — who’s had a good run of late following boxing drama Southpaw and creepy thriller NightcrawlerLife reunites Reynolds with familiar faces: Deadpool writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, and Daniel Espinosa, the director behind Safe House.

While many details of the plot are still left under wraps, an A.I. movie starring these Hollywood golden boys seems like pretty decent Oscar fodder, don’t you agree?

5. The Croods 2

Lastly, reprising the voice-role of Guy in the fun follow-up to 2013’s The Croods, Ryan Reynolds gets back to basics in this prehistoric caveman flick. Joined by Emma Stone and Nicolas Cage, the gang of cave dwellers are back to their old shenanigans in their treacherous world of fantastical beasts.

While nothing is set in stone (eh, eh) plot-wise, fans of the original will be thrilled to hear the production team is moulding the movie’s clay as we speak. And, according to co-writer Kirk DeMicco, we’ll be getting a bunch of new beasts too — color me excited!

Well, there you have it guys, five upcoming roles featuring Reynolds that, if I’m honest, all sound awesome!
