Spoiler Warning: Spoilers ahead for Game Of Thrones Season 6 Finale, “The Winds of Winter.”
Among the Daenerys decided to cut her lover Daario Naharis loose in order to be free to use her hand in marriage as a bargaining chip in her quest for the Iron Throne. She needs someone with plenty of political power in their own right, but just who has what it takes to be the Stepfather (or -mother) of Dragons?
Below is the list of all the eligible suitors that could potentially get a rose from Daenerys in Season 7.
The chemistry between these two was undeniable. And you heard Yara herself say it:
“I never demand, but I’m up for anything really.”
Let’s just watch the whole thing again:
Given the surviving Greyjoy men are pretty big losers, if Daenerys chooses to ally herself with the Iron Islands, Yara would be the first choice for cementing that alliance. Read more about their budding romance
While he may be a a kingslaying, misogynistic jerk, Euron is definitely eligible, and he definitely wants to wife up our dear Khaleesi. Plus he does have lots and lots of ships, which Daenerys no longer really needs, but could pose a threat if he decides to confront her on the sea as she sails to Westeros. It’s possible that Daenerys might make a pragmatic decision to marry him, then have him killed in his sleep or something. He might get a rose at this early stage, but we all know it would never work.
Now we know for certain that Jon is the son of Rhaegar Targaryen, making him Dany’s nephew. A little incest has never stopped anyone on Game Of Thrones, especially not the Targaryens, who were famous for marrying their siblings. Now that Jon’s the King In The North, an alliance with him would give Dany much needed loyalty in Westeros. Plus, Jon will undoubtedly be eager to get Dany and her dragons on his side when the war with the Night King’s army comes. And there’s that whole “song of ice and fire” prophecy that indicates these two might be totally made for each other.
Petyr Baelish only had eyes for Catelyn Stark, but it seems Catelyn’s daughter is a close second. That being said, Sansa’s already rejected his advances (thank god). If the Princess In The North continues to ice him out, Baelish may very well make a play for the Dragon Queen. But is an alliance with the Vale really the right move for the Deanerys? Besides, Dany’s justice-loving personality is sure to clash with Littlefinger’s conniving one. A courtship between these two probably won’t last very long once Dany realizes what a sleaze he is.
The last remaining true-born son of Ned Stark and heir of Winterfell is not a little kid anymore. In fact, he seems to be almost as tall as the Night King, and not bad looking, either. What he lacks in physical mobility he makes up for in greensight and warging powers. He and Daenerys are both survivors, and anyone raised by Ned Stark surely has an innate sense of right and wrong that would be a perfect match for Mhisa. If Jon Snow either dies or decides to try for the Iron Throne himself, Bran could be the solution to Dany’s problems.
“Only the Dornish managed to resist Aegon Targaryen and his dragons.”
Dorne has always been different from the rest of the Seven Kingdoms. Given the track record with Dorne refusing to surrender to surrender to Targaryen rule, Daenerys would do well to try a different approach when creating an alliance with the southernmost region of Westeros. We know that Ellaria likes both men and women, and in Season 5 Episode 9 “The Dance Of Dragons” she told Jaime that in Dorne, no one blinks an eye at unconventional couples. And since she and her Sand Snakes brought down House Martell, an alliance between Ellaria and Daenerys could be very strategic indeed.
Honorable Mention: Jorah Mormont
There’s no denying that he’s been a loyal advisor (minus the time he was leaking info to Westeros and almost got Dany assassinated). And he definitely does love Daenerys. He’s also the only person that still calls her Khaleesi, which gives us all the feels. But even if he does somehow cure himself of greyscale, he’s in too similar a position to Daario Naharis to actually be a viable option for the future Ruler of the Seven Kingdoms. He’s not even the head of House Mormont, which is not even a Great House to begin with. Ser Jorah, we’re sorry. Take a moment. Say your goodbyes.
Indulge in a little Dany and Jorah nostalgia right
Who would you like to see Daenerys end up with? Which alliance do you think would help the Mother of Dragons take Westeros?
