This ‘Alien: Covenant’ Rumor Is Kind Of Blowing Our Minds Right Now

Aside from a few little details, we really don’t know much about Ridley Scott’s Alien prequel/ sequel, . We know that Michael Fassbender will be reprising his role as cyborg David, but no clue what condition his character will be in, considering he was left as a severed android head at the end of Prometheus. We know that other cast members include Danny McBride, Jussie Smollett, and Billy Crudup. Katherine Waterson is the only new cast addition whose character name we know. And there have been . But that’s about it.

Not even the official synopsis gives much away:

Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

But is reporting a major spoiler concerning the real identity of Waterson’s character, Daniels, whom you can just make out in the bottom right corner of this official still released by Fox.

But for the curious of heart, there’s this: According to The Playlist, “sources close to film and actress” confided that the character of Daniels will be none other than the mother of Ellen Ripley. Ripley is arguably the OG lady badass of cinema, and so we can expect that her mother would be more of the same.

I definitely want to reemphasize here that any bit of news that comes from an unconfirmed source is to be taken with a grain of salt until it’s officially confirmed. If true, however, this would absolutely support the of every Prometheus sequel leading up chronologically to the first Alien film.
