This Game Obsessed Horror SFX Artist Is Getting Ready For Gamescom!

To most people, I guess I would appear to be a normal girl, living in a normal town, doing normal girlie stuff. I mean, sure, I like anything that’s pink, shiny objects always seem to make their way to my nest and I watch at least one animated movie a day. Oh and I absolutely believe in the existence of unicorns.

But some days, all I would want to do is sit in my PJ’s, eat pizza, drink beer and rock up online to play Call of Duty: Ghosts. Not on my boyfriends’ console, oh no, that would be mine. I don’t play to just pass the time, I play because I love to game, to me, it is pure entertainment.

One of my proud moments caught on camera.

One of my proud moments caught on camera.

I play to win, taking out a camper brings me more pleasure than it really should and hitting those top kill streaks is my raison d’etre. And hey, in Ghosts, I get to play with a dog – who doesn’t want a dog guarding your back!?

Now I’m not saying I’m the best player in the world, but I would let the opposing team know a girl had shot them with a high pitched giggle over my headset. You know, just to make them feel better.

However, there’s also another side to me. I am OBSESSED with makeup. Send me to a store and I’ll be there for hours, a kid in a candy shop! The different colours, new techniques, ways of applying it correctly and the CHOICES! Heaven on Earth!

Now before you stop yourself from reading the rest of this article, allow me to explain. It’s not the makeup you’d be comfortable to see on a woman, and no girl would have eyeliner envy. In fact, I’ve seen the burliest of men squirm.

I am a special effects makeup artist. Blood, guts, gore, decapitated body parts, zombies, you getting the picture now? These are a few of my favourite things! I work in TV, film, theatre and events specialising in the ‘less glamorous’ department. I showcase a lot of my work on and , doing a few tutorials, giving advice and hopefully inspiring others to become a part of this fabulous world!

Here’s a few snaps of my favorite pictures..

Creators Gave Me The Opportunity To Combine The Two

So, how could I introduce these two, very different worlds, in one go? Well fortunately I’ve been given the opportunity to do just that!

I couldn’t believe my ears when Movie Pilot rang me up to offer to send me to Germany!

Thanks to the lovely people at Movie Pilot, I am being sent to GAMESCOM in Germany to not only play all the new games I can get my hands on, but to offer up my services to a world of game fanatics.

I will be bringing movie style makeup to the masses of attending Gamescom. Face painting, body painting, demonstrations, and SFX open wounds, including cuts and zombie bites – the works! If you are going to Gamescom, come and find me and get bitten by a zombie.

I’ve been experimenting with a few different characters, so far I’ve come up with these..
