Tom Hiddleston Probably Won’t Play James Bond

when news broke that actor Tom Hiddleston was a potential pick to . While we still don’t know who will inherit the role after Daniel Craig, it seems less likely that it will be Hiddleston.

Over the weekend, the actor talked about his chances of becoming the next James Bond during a panel at Wizard World Philadelphia, revealing that he doesn’t think he’ll book the gig.

When discussing the subject, Hiddleston told the crowd:

“I’m sorry to disappoint you everybody. I don’t think that announcement is coming. But I’m very gratified to hear the enthusiasm. There’s not much that I can say that I haven’t already said, but I know… your guess is as good as mine to be honest.”

Hiddleston previously expressed interest in the role, and in a March 2016 interview with The Sunday Times said:

“I simply love the theme tune, the tropes and the mythology. I love the whole thing. If it ever came knocking, it would be an extraordinary opportunity.”

Who Will Be the Next James Bond?

Fans may have wanted Hiddleston to play Bond, but as former 007 , it doesn’t really matter what fans want. In the end, Bond producer Barbara Broccoli has the final say on who gets cast in the role, so if she doesn’t think Hiddleston is the best fit he simply won’t get the part. We know that in addition to Hiddleston, producers have met with actor Jamie Bell , and with casting the next Bond will be a tough task.
