Watch Out, Cersei: Here Are All The Contenders That Could Take The Iron Throne In Season 7

SPOILERS AHEAD: Lots and lots of spoilers looming for Game Of Thrones Season 6 Finale “The Winds Of Winter,” along with speculation for next season!

Little Tommen Baratheon’s death had been in the cards for a while now, but I don’t think anybody could have predicted the tragic, . Cersei, decked out in a badass military-inspired statement gown, finally torched the Sparrows (and the future of House Tyrell along with them) and then took the Iron Throne. But how long can she hold onto it?

Here are all the people that have their eye on King’s Landing and could potentially take the throne from Queen Cersei:

Littlefinger

Petyr Baelish to Sansa what we had suspected all along: He wants the Iron Throne bad. And ideally he’d like to make Catelyn Stark’s daughter his queen. Ew.

According to the most recent line of succession, his claim is pretty weak. If he somehow does convince Sansa to marry him, having the (as far as Westeros knows) only surviving Stark child and princess of the North by his side would significantly boost his chances. Then, there’s the fact that the Knights of the Vale are apparently abundant and have a knack for winning battles that seem lost. Given that he is crafty AF, and assuming that he somehow does manage to wife Sansa up, his chances of taking the Iron Throne could safely be estimated at around 2/5.

Euron Greyjoy

Euron Greyjoy already proclaimed his intention to take the Iron Throne back in Episode 5 (“The Door”). You’ll remember that this claim was dependent on giving Daenerys a certain member of his anatomy. But since , and recently announced that she’ll use her feminine wiles as a bargaining chip in her own quest for the Iron Throne, it doesn’t seem likely that she would even allow Euron to live long enough to make his appalling offer in person.

Daenerys

We’ve all known that Daenerys has had her sights set on ruling the Seven Kingdoms since the end of Season 1. She’s finally got her army, her ships, Tyrion Lannister as her hand, peace in Meereen, and is sailing toward Westeros as we speak. Plus, remembering , we know that Cersei will be taken down by one younger and more beautiful than she. As a true-born Targaryen, her claim to the throne is the strongest, but now we know that she’s not the only one with Targaryen blood.

Jon Snow

The Bastard of Winterfell just got everything he’s ever wanted: Spurred on by one outspoken and fearless tween Lady Mormont, he’s finally recognized as a Stark and sitting at the big table. Oh, and he’s King in the North!

But that’s not all. We FINALLY learned his true parentage: Ned Stark’s blood may run in his veins, but he’s not actually Ned Stark’s son. He’s the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen. If Bran returns to Winterfell with this priceless knowledge, it would severely weaken Jon’s claim to the throne in the North, but give him almost as much right to the Iron Throne as his aunt Daenerys. Of course, that’s assuming he’d want to make a play for it.

Who do you think is most likely to take the Iron Throne in Season 7?
