Amongst the beautiful illustrations and plot details, information on characters was revealed, including one intriguing droid: K-250.The Enforcer Droid With A DifferenceThe leaked preview pageBut what is K-250, the Enforcer Droid, and is all as it seems? Well, the leaked content was first reported by German fansite Jedi Bibliothek , including pages from the official visual story guide. Within those pages, a profile of K-250 details the character as an Enforcer Droid created for use in the Galactic Empire’s armed forces. However, at some point in time, K-250 switched alliance, and joined The Alliance to Restore the Republic. This then explains the droids role in Rogue One , where he/she/it will team up with the rogue resistance fighters in their attempt at stealing the plans to the death star. The preview pages also specify Alan Tudyk playing the motion capture role of K-250, joining the rebellious team including Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), Captain Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), Bodhi Rook (Riz Ahmed).A New Hope’s crawlIn the chronology of the Star Wars universe, Rogue One is set between Revenge of the Sith (2005) and A New Hope (1977), with events neatly joining up with the original. Without giving too much away, the opening crawl of Episode IV references the events in the upcoming movie . The crawl states:Disney Claim Some Information Is FalseAnother preview page from Rogue OneHowever, before we get too excited and start telling everyone K-250 is Rogue One’s answer to BB-8, it’s important to point out that Disney themselves have claimed a lot of the information in the leak isn’t true, as reported by the Stormtrooper Larry blog. The same blog also believes that the droid’s name will also be K-2SO, and not K-250 as has been widely reported.Either way, the rich history of Star Wars features have always had standout droids to accompany them, from originals such as R2D2, C3PO, to The Force Awakens’ beloved BB-8. If early glimpses are anything to go by, K-250/K-2SO could add to that list of robot rebels to remember.Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is released on December 16.What are your first impressions of K-250?
